   I was unusually disappointed by our meal yesterday evening. I need to say that we usually have a fabulous time and fabulous food as we come here often but last night was a disappointment and it wasn’t because it was booked up A there were a couple tables free. We came as a party of six for a Christmas meal. We sat in the long room alongside two long tables of people who were together and rowdy all evening - at times we couldn’t hear our own conversations. Four of us had turkey roasts - two ordered without red cabbage and three came with it. Rather than cause a fuss we scraped into a bowl and carried on. The roasted vegetables were very hard - to the point they were hard to cut - and some of the roast potatoes were so well roasted that they were more of a very solid puff of nothingness. Two of the roasts were almost cold on very cold plates and two came out piping hot which was odd. The rest of the food was good and ok - one risotto and one fish and chips - and the starters and desserts were lovely. It was the turkey mains that really let the evening down. We did mention the hard vegetables after the meal and the waitress did say she would mention it to the kitchen staff.

   Excellent welcome. Friendly staff. We had a really nice meal and the service was excellent. We will be back at some point to try something else on the menu.

   There where six of us having the festive lunch which was excellent. One person had vegetarian options from main menu and was happy with those. The crackers were fun!

   Great staff and good service, lovely setting, beautiful old building. Food was mixed, starter was very good, though first one cam out missing its inside! The risotto was rather bland and dull. Desserts were mixed - the mousse was lovely and the shortbread biscuit delicious. The Christmas pudding was literally 1cm thick so impossible to get the flavour and was swimming in brandy custard when cream had been ordered.

   The food was just warm, the meat was very raw, could not cut it. Returned it and it came back the same. Vegetables very hard not el Dante. Staff were great and very attentive. Room was cold

   The meal itself was ok, potatoes on my festive dinner were over cooked but I was getting full anyway. The chips on both my daughters meals were burnt, but the burgers made up for them, the waitress forgot my drink and then forgot my pudding too. For a bill over £200 and my 2nd time with problems I don't think I'll be going back.

   Starters were a mixed bag. Scotch egg was overcooked and hard. Houmous wasnt like any we had before and uneatable, the salmon pate was lovely but didnt have bread with it as per menu. Mains of turkey roast and pork belly excellent and lots of it, staff lovely, houmos was taken of bill which was very reasonable

    Very disappointed as this was a treat for our grand children, only 3 other tables to serve but still had to wait over an hour for food! All 4 meals had problems … burger buns were over done boarding on burnt, burger was not totally cooked through, suet pudding was over cooked and hard in places, chips were all under cooked, had we not been with our grand children we would have complained!
