On the beach at North Sands Salcombe, The Winking Prawn has been welcoming guests for nearly 20 years. What started as a beach café is now… well, a very busy shabby chic beach café, attracting people from all walks of life and of all ages.

Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, beers, wines, coffees, cakes and ice creams throughout the year, you will find everything from buckets of prawns to big juicy steaks and Devon cream teas on our menu, so why not check it out?

Fantastic position with wonderful views ,food above average ,well worth a visit, we shared popping prawn baguette and crab sandwich last summer ,both were excellent fresh and tasty

We come back to the Winking Prawn year after year. Fantastic setting, delicious food, great service and such hard working people working there. It is busy from breakfast all the way through to late evening dinner and it is always clean and tidy and welcoming. You have a fantastic reputation Winkng Prawn, we are from Gloucestershire and many people know of you there already! We will be back, thank you again.... a piece of heaven!

Top drawer - had the outdoor BBQ - great value at 20 quid a head. Nice vibe beside North Sands and student waiters. Went back for buffet breakfast this am - superb!

Very well located seafood restaurant just outside Salcombe and opposite the beach. Obviously a popular venue and food was very good. Wine list a little predictable but not too bad. Generally rather good.

A bit stuffy inside when it‘s a nice day outside. An overly pushy maitre d‘ destroys the charm of this coastal eatery...

Good overall but felt rushed. Food came too quickly. The lobster was tough ( frozen?) and my monkfish was pretty tasteless Annoying kids were left to run amuck Next time we will book later in the evening

great restaurant, always a good atmosphere. its a beach café, but starting to look a little tired. ready for redecoration - would restore it to near perfection

Miserable service waitress and boss. Over priced average food. Lobster a complete! rip off: size of one scampi, £25: utter joke.

Have been here plenty of times but not for some time to eat dinner. Whilst food was lovely the service was not good at all with the exception of one young lad who was spot on. Real shame it has gone like this.
