Thirty Bales is a celebration of everything Midwestern cuisine has to offer. We're an upbeat neighborhood restaurant bringing together bright personalities, bold recipes, clean ingredients and craft spirits and playing with the flavors that make the Midwest a place unlike any other.

If you're curious about our name, it comes from the legend of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. As the story goes, Babe had an appetite as big as Bunyan himself and is rumored to have eaten 30 bales of hay a day.

Like our restaurant's big blue spirit animal, we're a pack of people that lives to eat and drink. We're endlessly in love with the Midwest and its connection to seasonal ingredients grown close to home. It's what inspires our menu and our team. And it's what inspires us as we tell our own story with the flavors and spirits of the Midwest.

                                                                                  With a rare food allergy and one guest that is vegan, the manager was AMAZING and prepared for us when we arrived highlighting all options that could accommodate our needs. Portions are large and the food presentation was amazing as was the flavors we experienced. Highly recommended for casual experience.

                                                                                  First time here. Ambience was ok. Somewhat reminiscent of the prior restaurant which was the Big Ten I think. The food was overpriced for what you received. One of us ordered the short rib lasagna which was tasty but way too much filler (lots of carrots!). There was no side. A salad or garlic toast would have been great! Another person ordered the Cubano sandwich. Again tasty but the sandwich was dry and needed more garlic aioli. My salad had a few black moldy leaves which wasn’t appetizing. Our server was good but didn’t check back on drinks or waters which we asked for. Not sure we would return.

                                                                                  Brought friends to Thirty Bales, their first time, and they loved the location, access to free parking, and diverse menu. Our server was efficient and engaged. And thr cocktail menu and wine list had something for everyone. The Duroc pork chop, chicken picata, and Gumbo were huge hits, but the Truffle Fries stole the show. A great meal for a fun evening.

                                                                                  The service was excellent and the food was outstanding! Highly recommend the Short Rib Pot Pie for an entree and the Carrot Cake for desert!
