I’ve eaten here three times now and the service and food has been amazing each time. My most recent visit was for my birthday with the girls and Jim accommodated our late request for bottomless brunch and was really patient with us, joining in on our jokes made us feel really welcome! Portion sizes are really generous, and the girls really enjoyed their cocktails!

Absolutely fabulous, service, food and atmosphere……we had a wonderful evening and will be returning next time we’re in the area. This little gem of a restaurant is a must for a visit if you’re in Newport. From the minute we arrived to a warm and friendly welcome right through ordering our drinks and then the great freshly prepared food we loved it. Massive thank you to James and the team for such a good time.

The menu had variety and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere was great and the staff were really helpful. The service was also quick. The location is also great, the restaurant is situated right next to Newport Market with bars and pubs nearby.

Fantastic food and service! Was not disappointed and would absolutely visit again. Enjoyed our meal and prices are about what you’d expect. It’s good to have somewhere like this in Newport

I took my family to The Tickled Trout for lunch on Sunday, after reading good reviews. It was not a good day to visit. At 12:30pm when we arrived we were the only customers in the restaurant, and when we left after our meal only 2 more people were there. We don't live in the Newport area, and on a rainy Sunday the streets were deserted. However, after we finished our meal, we went next door to see what the new Market Street food conversion looked like we were amazed to find it completely packed out across the whole ground floor area, which is very large. So, Sunday does not appear to be a popular day to visit The Tickled Trout, and I think that I know why. Some of the items on the menu were not available, and also some drinks, including coke. Either they had had a very busy Saturday night, and not had time to re-stock, or they are just not well organised, but either way, it was very disappointing. As far as the food is concerned, it was pretty average, but was served quickly, but that may indicate that it was just heated up rather than freshly cooked. I would guess that it was the latter from the taste and quality. Overall, the manager was very friendly, the service was quite good, but the food and ambience were not up to expectations. Having said that, I'm 71, and have a lot of restaurant experience, so maybe young people would have had a different view.

A delightful experience all round. A treasure to find this in the centre of Newport.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, gorgeous food, great options of tapas. Definitely recommend and will be returning!

A friend and I ate at the Tickled Trout on Saturday and were both extremely pleased with everything. The service was impeccable, the food was amazing and and the ambience was perfect. We will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely time.
