Our waitress did an outstanding job on her 1st day with TJ's. Our food was awesome and the ambiance and decorations were amazing.

The Jefferson Hotel is beautiful at Christmas and our bookclub wanted to have a festive lunch at TJ’s. However the service and meal did not meet our expectations. Our waiter was not very knowledgeable about the drink menu, and we had to ask him to check with the bartender with our questions. When we inquired about a menu dish he said that it pretty much was as described on the menu. We thought perhaps if was from inexperience but when our dishes were brought out by staff and placed incorrectly the head waiter was rather abrupt in placing the dishes correctly. Hopefully it was an off afternoon for the staff.

Based on previous experiences, I had higher expectations for TJ's. Today was not the day. The service was slow - nearly an hour after ordering did we get our main course. The food was average at best (perhaps I should not have ordered the veggie sandwich, but why not?). The room itself was unremarkable and bordering on dowdy. The menu is limited and the prices are on the high side - $13 for a less than a cup of soup, for example. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I will think twice about going back anytime soon.

The service we received was very top notch. They were super nice and very accommodating. They made me and my wife feel special on our anniversary. The wine was good and the food was very tasty. Would def recommend to anyone looking to have a romantic date.

I have been to TJ's many times, but this was a real disappointment. The menu has become ultra casual, which is generally ok, but the selections were pretty weak, and the food was very average. It took us a long time to get through dinner, and we had theater tickets that was creating more time stress than needed. The restaurant was not very busy, and it seemed like the service could have been much better. It's too bad, with limited options close to Altria theater, this should be a great option.
