Terra restaurant is located at Tottington Manor which is beautifully situated in the South Downs National Park with hillside and farmland views, yet it is just 10 minutes from the A23 at Pyecombe and the A27 at Shoreham.

With a menu showcasing the best of local ingredients cooked fresh each day by our team of chefs, you can enjoy dinner in the restaurant, or outside on our decking, or in winter time, choose our more relaxed fire side Olive Restaurant.

In addition we have a number of private dining options available from 6 to 95.

Our South Downs Suite is completely separate with its own private garden, stretch tent and bar and is ideal for family celebrations, parties and of course Weddings. This was my second visit to Tottington Manor as a follow-up to a function I attended late last year, and my first visit to Terra. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the very charming Louis, Tottington'a General Manager, who was charming and is clearly a real asset to Tottington. We were seated quickly and left to peruse the menu and our orders were taken soon thereafter although we were not rushed. My mother and I both chose to skip the starters and go straight for a main course. Mum had lamb while I had the chicken dish and both were exceptional - beautifully presented and cooked and seasoned to perfection. We then opted for the mini bite size desserts which were a taste sensation, if a tad small. All in all this was a really pleasing visit where we enjoyed superb food and excellent yet very discreet service which I very much appreciated. Indeed, I am already planning my next visit with a very discerning friend who I am hoping will be similarly impressed. My sincere thanks to Louis and the wider team, and a very big pat on the back to all.

The weather when we went to Terra was appalling and as a result we were the only diners to show up! However, we were very impressed by the warm and friendly welcome we received. Our coats and umbrellas were taken from us and hung up which we found to be an excellent service that is lacking in most other establishments these days. We were shown to the lounge where our pre dinner drinks were served to us and we were given the menus to peruse. When we were ready we were shown into their warmly and attractively decorated dining room and ordered our meals. My husband opted for the homemade pie of beef and lamb in red wine gravy and I chose 2 starters - Sussex Smokie and a duck moose with a red currant sauce served in a puff pastry brioche. We chose a glass of red wine, Rioja for me and a Shiraz for Alan to accompany the meal. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. We indulged ourselves with a sticky chocolate and toffee pudding with a brandy snap and Chantilly cream for me and I can’t remember what Alan had but we shared them and they were delicious! The staff were charming and very attentive and even though we were the only diners, we had a lovely evening and will definitely go back.

Fantastic meal, service, venue. We had the sharing board for two as part of the Sunday menu. Not only was it great value, everything was cooked to perfection. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The pork belly was outstanding, and would recommend the mini dessert with coffee if you dont fancy a big pudding

We enjoyed our Xmas Eve lunch, service and ambience great, food was good, particularly the desserts - bit disappointed with my gluten free yorkshire puddings which were a bit dense and stodgy. I make them at home so I know they can be light and fluffy, however I was pleased to be offered them at all as many restaurants don’t. Drinks are a little more expensive here than you might expect but extensive choice. Overall experience was very good, love the location at the foot of the downs, and look forward to a return visit.

Ambience is good, but attention to detail was lacking. Three of our five meals were missing items, bubble and squeak from the gammon dish and the cranberry relish from the chicken burger making it very dry. This was corrected once we pointed it out to the staff, but poor service and sadly not the first time I've had to check and correct what was on my plate. Also the order was put through incorrectly and the bill was wrong by £40 overcharged. Such a shame as the place has such great potential and I want to like it more, but it just seems to fail to deliver what it promises.

Dear Melanie, Happy Boxing Day. You are right and the elements of the dishes you ordered should have been right and our Exec Chef on the pass apologises as this was a genuine oversight. I understand the dishes were rectified quickly and apologies given. We changed our Menu just for Christmas Eve and this caused a moment of error on the pass. I am sorry that your order was added incorrectly on our till and I am glad it was adjusted but can appreciate the annoyance caused at the table. It is not our intention to overcharge anyone and again, the change of Menu just for Christmas Eve was possibly the cause. I am glad this was rectified. We assure you that we take the delivery of our service and food quality promises very seriously and we hope you return to experience the Tottington way.

The food and service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They made my boyfriend feel so special on his birthday! We will definitely be back.
