   I’ve been searching high and low for authentic sushi and sashimi in Puerto Rico, and I finally struck gold at Toyosu! I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this hidden gem sooner—huge thanks to Instagram for leading me here. With an extensive Japanese sushi menu, you could visit multiple times in a single week and still have new nigiri and sashimi options to explore. Every bite is pure quality, reflecting the freshness and craftsmanship that make Toyosu stand out. Add to that a chic speakeasy vibe and impeccable, five-star service, and you’ve got an unforgettable dining experience.    Our experience at Toyosu was nothing short of phenomenal! The staff provided exceptional service, making us feel truly welcomed from the moment we walked in. However, what truly left us speechless was the sushi itself—simply out of this world! We never imagined we would find such top-tier quality in Puerto Rico.    We take great pride in maintaining the highest standards of quality and service at our restaurant, which is reflected in the overwhelming majority of our reviews. Unfortunately, we believe this review may have been posted with the intent to unfairly damage our reputation. The guests ordered Hamachi Toro, Masunosuke Toro and Masunosuke nigiri, as well as our Osaka Roll, consuming 100% of their order—an indication of satisfaction. Our pricing reflects the fact that we are the only restaurant in Puerto Rico flying in fresh fish from Tokyo multiple times per week. Additionally, our team checked in several times during their visit, and they consistently stated everything was great. We stand by our commitment to excellence and invite guests to consider our overwhelmingly positive feedback.

   This sushi restaurant is an absolute gem! The fish is incredibly fresh, sourced directly from Japan, and every bite melts in your mouth.    I ordered the sushi sampler, and it was an absolute breath of fresh air to experience truly premium, fresh fish. Instead of the usual salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, this selection featured exceptional choices like Japanese scallop, saltwater eel, snow crab, bluefin tuna, and more. This is what sushi is meant to be—authentic, high-quality, and expertly prepared—not the frozen fare served elsewhere in P.R. While it’s not the cheapest option, the quality more than justifies the price. Absolutely worth it!

   We ordered a variety of sushi and sashimi and were thoroughly impressed with the quality and variety. We particularly enjoyed the chutoro, otoro, snow crab and the Japanese scallops. Fish temperature and sushi rice were spot on. We also loved the decor. A quiet oasis once you enter from Ashford Ave. To top it off, the service was impeccable - attentive, warm, and professional. This place is a must-visit for sushi lovers!

   I felt like I spent $300 for $80 worth of food and service. The biggest issue is the rice. The chef is sincere and nice. But, he doesn’t seem to have necessary know-how to get the rice right, which takes years to master. The rest (ie fish) is just plain average. They brought miso soup at the end. It tasted like literally miso paste you buy at a Japanese grocery store mixed in hot water with some cube tofus. Good thing about this restaurant is, the service was good. They tried hard and we liked it. But, I will not return to this restaurant for $300 Sushi Omakase for two. But, I can come back for a box-bento with 6 piece sushi for $40. For that, I could give 8.5 out of 10.

   If you're searching for the most authentic sushi experience in Puerto Rico, Toyosu is the undisputed destination. While we didn't opt for the omakase, we were blown away by their extraordinary selection, over 25 different types of fresh fish for sushi and sashimi. No other restaurant on the island comes close to offering this level of premium Japanese variety. Just take a look at their menu and compare it to anywhere else in P.R. This is the ultimate destination for true Japanese sushi lovers. We will be back!
