True Chesapeake is a Baltimore restaurant born of an oyster farm. Executive Chef Zack Mills creates a seasonal menu that showcases oysters from our farm in St. Jerome’s Creek, Southern Maryland — raw, roasted, and in signature dishes like Classic Rockefeller and French Onion Oysters. But, the oysters are just the beginning. Our award winning menu celebrates the bounty of the Chesapeake region by using locally sourced seafood, meat, and produce to create exquisite dishes that evolve with the seasons. Chef Mills has been featured extensively for his use of invasive seafood species, a very delicious way to help the Chesapeake Bay. Don't forget to order the Blue Crab and Bone Marrow dip or handmade pasta. We have an expertly curated wine list, beer selection, and cocktails - both classic and creative. Ample bar, high-top, and terrace seating available for walk-ins on a first-come-first-serve basis.

    I had a mushroom risotto entree that totaled maybe 4 tablespoons. It came in an acorn squash bowl, which maybe the chef was supposed to partially empty out to make room for the pasta, but almost all of the acorn squash was intact. Instead of eating risotto from a squash bowl, I had acorn squash with a smear of risotto on top. It also wasn’t salted well. I had a peanut butter pot de crème for dessert. The marshmallow on top was lightly torched/toasted which went well at first but the pot de crème cooled it off and left a floppy slab of marshmallow on top. All in all it was okay.

    Creative and delicious food, really cool wine list, servers were great. It has been a while since I left a restaurant feeling like I *need* to come back because I didn't get a chance to try everything I wanted, but I did here!

    Second time here. My husband loves it. Menu a bit limited for me because I have Celiac disease so need to be gluten free. If they had GF buns for sandwiches it was not indicated on the menu. I had to ask a few questions about ingredients so ended up with the roasted oysters and risotto. Both were good. Been gluten free for over 30 years and have noticed that in many other countries restaurants are listing food allergens on menus. Several in the USA do but we are still far behind other countries. Too bad.

    The overall atmosphere and food was impeccable. I also tend to have questions and I was impressed with the our waiters knowledge and enthusiasm. If you need a bright interior not for you but if you like ambiance there is an intimate but also upscale casual vibe. I haven't had oysters this good since a trip to NY almost 15years ago. This incident was fresh in my mind because the previous week I had oysters that didn't surpass or come close to that memory I had when I ate it for the first time with my sister. But I finally had that experience at True Chesapeake. It was better then what I remembered since I also got a chance to have more variations of the oysters and preparation styles. I did eat enjoy that I was there during their happy hour so I was able to try different variations of the oysters.

    I frequently go to True Chesapeake and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent as is the service. Our server RC did a great job.

    My partner and I ordered the blue crab and bone marrow dip, hand cut spaghetti, seared scallops, French onion oysters, and some raw oysters. They were all excellent. Our favorites were the spaghetti and dip. We would definitely return to try the other menu items. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Overall, a great experience!!

    Restaurant was packed, but service was efficient, accurate, helpful. The food, as usual, was delicious. Great affordable wine list.
