About this restaurant

  • Fancy
  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighbourhood gem
Located in the heart of the East Village, Tsukimi offers a modern take on kaiseki, a multi-course Japanese dinner. The name Tsukimi translates to moon viewing and refers to the mid-autumn harvest festival honoring the moon at its fullest and brightest.

We are a unique 12-seat counter tasting course experience, exploring seasonal creations by Chef Takanori Akiyama and his team alongside a thoughtfully curated beverage program offering sake, wine, select Japanese spirits and pairings.

If you have any food restrictions, please reach out to us at info@tsukimi.nyc first before making a reservation. Late arrivals to the reserved seating may result in missed dishes as courses are served at the same time for all guests. Reservations are prepaid and all sales are final and non-refundable. We may honor rescheduling with at least 72 hours notice to the time of the reservation. For more information, feel free to browse our FAQs https://www.tsukimi.nyc/faqs

From the OpenTable editors: Snagging a seat at this serene MICHELIN-Starred kaiseki in the East Village means you can look forward to one of the most intimate dinners in town. At just 12 seats at two counters facing each other, you'll be treated to dish after dish of seasonal Japanese cooking. You might find pink conger fish with rhubarb jam and shiso flowers or tempura Japanese beltfish, and no matter what, you should ask about the sake selection to make it an extra-memorable evening.

We went to Tsukimi for my husband's birthday. It was an amazing experience. 8 courses, with an additional 3 dessert courses, were served. The menu is fish-forward, as you would expect from a fine Japanese restaurant. All were excellent, with many unexpected flavor and texture combinations. It's hard to pick a favorite course, but the sesame tofu with fig and shaved truffle was one of my husband's favorites, the Wagyu beef was one of mine. We both thought the Fuji Apple Souffle was outstanding. The restaurant is almost hidden away down a short flight of stairs on 10th St. It's small -- only 12 diners max can fit at a time. There were more staff than diners! It made for a very intimate and peaceful dinner experience.

Had their tasting menu a year ago and both the food and service was amazing. Had it again and it was even better this time.

We really enjoyed the dinner experience at Trukimi. The food was amazing. We love the sashimi dishes a lot, and was already talking about coming back in Spring/Summer with new seasonal menu. Thank you Trukimi for this wonderful dinner experience!

We waited for this experience to the end of our trip in New York. The experience was absolutely breathtaking, and the food was so wonderful. The staff ensured that each of us experienced all of the food by providing descriptions of each course. The intimate dining atmosphere was magnificent and made our Christmas so very special.
