Tujague's is the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. This French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years.

Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls.

Menu items such as the seared gulf fish and the daily gumbo meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Our famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too.

If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Gus Martin

From the OpenTable editors: It’s the second-oldest restaurant in New Orleans, with the claim to fame of inventing brunch—and some even say it’s haunted. Welcome to Tujague’s, founded by French immigrants in 1856, and still letting the good times roll for more than 160 years. Today it’s a slice of history in the French Quarter, filled with mirrors, chandeliers, and a collection of 6,000 mini liquor bottles. Don’t miss the spicy shrimp remoulade, boiled brisket, and grasshopper cocktail, another house original.

The atmosphere is phenomenal, the service top notch, and most importantly the food was incredible. I have to say, it’s all around an amazing dining experience. I highly recommend checking out the cocktail and dessert menu.

Very underwhelming. Came for a thanksgiving dinner and everything was warm at best. Had to send the gumbo back to be heated up and could’ve sent back the remainder of the food as well, but didn’t have the energy. Would not recommend.

We were disappointed with our thanksgiving turkey dinner. The green beans were overcooked, the meal was served lukewarm, there was very little gravy and the turkey was sliced breast but seemed processed, not carved from a bird as you would expect. The gumbo and salad were good and the bread pudding was fine although the sauce was runny. Our wait staff was friendly but seemed very busy and so service was slow. Shout out to our waiter for managing to get us a Hurricane to go for someone who couldn’t make it to dinner.

We had a 5:00 reservation for Thanksgiving. The food was really good but the service was terrible - it was so bad, it was comical. It started when we sat down, didn’t have place settings and only had 3 bread plates for a table of 4. After about 10 minutes of waiting for drinks, the server came back to confirm what we ordered then the two waiters had a yelling match over our table on who was going to the bar to retrieve them. They delivered the bread without the butter and we still didn’t have place settings. After they delivered our first course, they realized we didn’t have utensils or napkins and finally brought them. When the food arrived, they again didn’t know what we ordered and brought the wrong thing. We sat about :45 after eating and the waiter came up and asked if we already had our desserts. The table responded in unison, NO. We waited another :10 minutes for the desserts and watched them deliver it to a table that had just finished their main course. When dinner was over we had to wait a good :30 for the check and observed the room. The waiters were very unorganized and frantic walking back and forth with full plates of food, not knowing who was supposed to get what. We noticed another table who was there much longer than we were get up to ask for the check two seperate times. We watched them carry around our check to the different tables, look at it and talk between themselves, confused on where it was supposed to go. After the check was delivered we gave them our credit card but again watched them runs around to the different tables, with our card in their hand, not expecting to get it back. We felt like we were on an SNL skit or on a hidden camera because there is no way the service could be this bad. They only person that had any clue how to take care of tables was the one that filled our water. He was very attentive and kept our waters full. Tujague’s should promote him to server and let the two incompetent servers on the third floor go.

I was told this was a must dine restaurant with an amazing flavorful menu. Since my family visited on Thanksgiving we only got to experience the limited prefix special menu which wasn’t flavorful for $65 per person. I think many people traveling on holidays want to experience the best of a restaurant so please stick to what you’re great at. If you need to offer a limited menu, offer the best items not the worst. My experience was so bad that I am not sure I will try it when I return to New Orleans. I will say the servers were kind.

We had a wonderful experience. First time dining at Tujsque’s. Lea, Victoria and Latonia (sp) did an awesome job taking care of our table. Loved the vegetarian option, as well as the Turkey and dressing .. only complaint was the way to divide up the bill… two were individual, two were together. Will still give 5. Stars
