Pourquoi ce sont des Perles rares

Chef de cuisine : Gus Martin

De la part des éditeur·rice·s d'OpenTable: It’s the second-oldest restaurant in New Orleans, with the claim to fame of inventing brunch—and some even say it’s haunted. Welcome to Tujague’s, founded by French immigrants in 1856, and still letting the good times roll for more than 160 years. Today it’s a slice of history in the French Quarter, filled with mirrors, chandeliers, and a collection of 6,000 mini liquor bottles. Don’t miss the spicy shrimp remoulade, boiled brisket, and grasshopper cocktail, another house original.

This was not the old Tujaques of the past we have frequented, sadly they were out of their main offerings- including coffee! While staff was attentive and friendly, service was slow. Food was ok but not of the caliber of the past.

Always a pleasure eating at Tujague’s. The food is fresh and tasty and follows the Louisiana tradition of cooking. Especially delicious was the fish entree. It’s also remarkable that they generate a value priced wine list that is comprehensive and recognizable.

Requested balcony table for our large party so we could watch parade. Was told they were setting up our table on balcony. We were then seated in way back of restaurant in outdoor courtyard no where near the balcony or windows to watch parade. When we asked why are they seating us here we were then told there's a private party on 2nd floor. Had we known they could not fill our request we would of went elsewhere.

Well. It wasn't BAD, but for an iconic NOLA restaurant, I am a bit embarrassed that they think this is a prime example of NOLA cuisine. This was the first time going since they moved from their original location. The experience at the old place was much, much better. I'll give them a mulligan because it WAS Valentine's Day, but quality shouldn't suffer because of traffic. Let's start with the bar. Worst Old Fashioned and Sazerac we've ever had. Not to mention, we were billed before we even got our drinks. Menu. Surprisingly limited. They used to have a much more extensive menu. Tasso and crawfish gnocchi was good. Turtle soup....I dunno. Lots of celery and not nearly as rich as places like Mandinas and the Brennan Restaurants. For a soup is wasn't bad...as far as turtle soup, we give it a 👎. Entree was fish of the day (black drum) with crab meat and a butter beur blanc sauce over fingerling potatos and green beans. Fish was solid...so it was good. There was something off about the texture of the potatoes...can't tell if they were old or not cooked properly. Didn't get dessert because we were worried about spending any more money and being further disappointed (plus a parade was starting outside). This is the 2nd time we have eaten at one of NOLA's quintessential restaurants and were left disappointed (the other was Arneaud's). Again...kind of embarrassed that this is what visitors are being treated to. No wonder Taylor Swift ate a cheesburger while at Lilette.

Service was great. We were greeted by all staff and everyone was courteous. Restroom was very clean with comfortable atmosphere. Food was wonderful. French Quarter buildings and architecture is quite unique. Truly a New Orleans Gem.

We went to this restaurant because of the history of it being the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans. The building itself is really cool, so I’m happy we went. That being said we were disappointed in the food. The appetizer were good, but mains were not. The pork dish was so over fried and burnt around edges so we sent it back. We replaced it with a filet mignon that was just mediocre. My stuffed pepper was undercooked and was far from stuffed. They really should get their act together because it could be a great place to go!
