    Our tasting menu is an individualistic, seasonally-driven experience celebrating Vancouver Island and paying homage to our Chinatown home. The menu is constantly evolving --dictated by the seasons, the farmers, and the whims of the culinary team. While most dietary restrictions can be accommodated, due to the intimate nature of our kitchen, we are unable to fulfill requests for sesame, soy, or finfish allergies. For all other dietary restrictions, we request 48-hours advance notice so that we can prepare to welcome you. The tasting menu is 6-plus courses, priced at $112, and we encourage guests to set aside two-and-a-half hours to fully enjoy the experience.

    Dine Around Victoria returns from January 24th to February 9th, and Ugly Duckling is celebrating the city's favourite foodie festival by transforming ourselves into Victoria's first (and only) Chinese roast duck house! For the uninitiated: Beijing roast duck is typically enjoyed as a multi-course experience, with different preparations of the duck enjoyed in each course. We're going all-out, putting our signature 'Ugly Duckling' spin on the whole experience; and presenting a three-course duck extravaganza that celebrates our namesake bird in a whole new light! *vegetarian, pescatarian, and gluten-free diets accommodated with 48-hours notice. For all other dietary restrictions, please contact the restaurant directly.*

    There were some really excellent plating arrangements with many ways to enjoy flavour combinations for each dish and every bite for the most part was a well thought out experience. Highly recommend for foodies like me :)

    Food was outstanding and service was great but not very busy. Value was low rated because of the cost. We found it pretty expensive.

    The food was amazing and I highly recommend the Ugly Duckling as a dining experience. The staff is awesome and explains each course and wine as it arrives. The restaurant is quite expensive so for most people it is probably not a place you'd go regularly but ideal for special occasions. We will definitely go again - likely in the spring for the next birthday. They told us the menu changes every 4 months.

    We had a table central in the restaurant. It has a modern feel with tastful decor. The chairs were very comfortable. The staff was friendly, attentive and always ready to answer questions. The courses were very good throughout the set menu. The halibut was the stand out dish for me. No one has cooked halibut so well for me ever. The cocktails are well crafted and spirit forward. The cooks accommodated pescatarian menu requests for two people in our party (48 hours notice) Everything came on unique stoneware, and cutlery was delivered to match each course. Value felt a bit less than anticipated. I left just in the edge of being satiated. Would have loved a slightly bigger portion of the duck. And atleast 1 more dumpling in the starter course. It was my wife's birthday dinner and a cute cake was delivered as a bonus course at dessert. Much appreciated. This was my first time at the restaurant, overall a wonderfull night and would recommend for a special evening to those that appreciate fine dining.

    The restaurant is most likely the best food in Victoria. The service is outstanding. It is not cheap, but then, good things do not come cheaply. The quality of the food is superb. The imagination of the chef when producing the meals is outstanding. It is well worth the money. Thank you to the restaurant's team for such good value for money.

    My husband and I loved this restaurant. Everything was wonderful from the service to the cocktails to the food. I highly recommend this restaurant.
