Ummo is always a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours and enjoy high quality food. Ingredients and their provenance are a plus in this restaurant. Staff is not always in line to the expectations - need more professionalism and probably additional training

Great service but everything else was lacking. The cacio e pepe pasta was just (bad) alfredo sauce. Their specialty truffle pasta was hard tortellini in a flavorless broth. The “award-winning” espresso martini was fine but nothing special. The waitress comped one of our meals so I think even she knew it wasn’t up to par.

Our favorite dishes were the Antipasti dishes. The Octopus Carpaccio was so creative and absolutely delicious. The Burrata e Prosciutto with the Sicilian eggplant caponata was another favorite. Our server was really helpful and personable. We will definitely come back and probably just order the entire antipasti menu. 😉

Fantastic dining experience. Octopus appetizer was one of the best seafood items I have ever had. Great server, atmosphere and evening.

Disappointing night. The decor and vibe are great. Bar solid. The pastas, including the “award winning” pasta were not wow moments. The Branzino was bland, although it was perfectly cooked. The beef was the only real standout dish. Chicago has soooo many restaurants to choose from. If you are going to be a $250-$300 dinner for two you need to be great to keep us coming back and Ummo did not hit that mark.

our drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and dessert were all incredible and very unique. the overall ambiance had awesome vibes as well!

The food was exceptional. Reminded me of my trip to Bologna last year. My server Madison helped me decide on what to order. (Decision paralysis when there are so many incredible options.)She was spot on; kind, friendly, and attentive too.
