Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. All our food dishes were wonderful and plentiful. We enjoyed the Wednesday wine deal. Our server was attentive and the manager stopped by to make sure we were ok. We had extra to take home. Loved the cotton candy!

My wife and I, born 2 days apart celebrated our birthdays with our 4 children and had an amazing experience as we always do at Uncle Baccalas. We took advantage of their anniversary price fix menu. The rigatoni a la vodka was great as was my chicken francaise. My son’s short rib fell off the bone and my wife’s chicken piccata was so tender. My other two children truly enjoyed their grilled salmon. Their only complaint was that it came with a lot of mushrooms on the side which if they knew they would have asked to leave off or replace. Desserts were delicious and enjoyed with the staff singing happy birthday to us and my youngest enjoying the giant cotton candy he got. Never a bad experience at one of our favorite restaurants.

Our favorite Italian restaurant. We love the eggplant and veal parmigiana. The Bacala Sundae for dessert is delicious. Great service. We will be back soon.

Uncle B's is always great and consistently awesome. The food never disappoints and the wait staff is so accommodating. It's our local go to Resturant. The Lemon fizz cocktail is a treat!

We decided to try Uncle Bacalas because they were running an attractive anniversary special and we are so happy we did! The food was excellent as well as the ambiance, ( beautifully decorated … old school Italian with red checkered tablecloths). Our waiter , “Carmine” was professional and courteous and the Cosmopolitan cocktails were the best we’ve ever had! This will be a favorite spot for dinner from now on. 😊

Overall, it was a good dining experience. The mussels appetizer was very good. The sea bass, mixed seafood over pasta and linguine in clam sauce were all very good. However, the chicken scarparella mixed the mark. It was unusually prepared in a gravy which detracted from the dish. We all have eaten this dish numerous times and did not like this preparation. The staff was pleasant and the ambiance was bustling.
