Inspired by the rich history of Pier 38, Upstairs at Pier 38 is a place to gather that encompasses locally caught seafood, sourced by the renowned Honolulu Fish Auction, featuring USDA Prime Steak. Our Culinary Team adds their own creativity to the menu by collaborating with Chef Nico Chaize, to create island cuisine using rustic French techniques.

Experience our cozy lounge setting inspired by a “home away from home.” Smokey wood accents with high industrial ceilings, glowing lights, and a majestic copper bar will allow our guests to unwind with ease. Seating in the dining room is spacious and perfect for large parties or an intimate date night.

We are happy to offer a contemporary wine list with old-world treats, locally crafted beers, and captivating one-of-a-kind cocktails. Our team prefers reservations; however, walk-ins are always welcome!

    Nico's Upstairs has done better. Service slow and disjointed, food just not great and the menu was more limited than the last few times we were there. Escargot were great, could do something other than dinner rolls for the bread with it, but the caesar salad was super salty, and asked for some garlic on it and there was none. The sea bass dish was unimpressive, the fish itself was good with a miso glaze but the rice and the rest of it was lunch food truck.

    Overall a very nice dining experience. Server was a little slow with their first approach but friendly and attentive later. Sea bass would have been perfect if it didn’t come to the table kinda tepid if that’s the correct word. The sushi rice was too vinegary, overpowered the delicate fish, too bad. But we enjoyed dinner and will be back.

    Food service was great, Elliott our server was very attentive . The manager came around multiple times to be certain we were satisfied. Mahalo team, please let up the wonderful experience for our date night .

    So very disappointed. I love the regular Nicos and thought this would be an upscale version. Instead it is this odd French food, seafood place which does not really work out. You can only get the drinks they make and for example could not get a Mai Tai or they ran out of olives for a Martini. The food was both mediocre and odd. They had these items none of which were appealing. Echoing the comments on here my wife ordered medium steak and it came rare. The other dishes were mediocre. The brie appetizer was odd and soupy. None of the meals were good. Desert, a cheesecake was small and dry. Service slow. It's odd that this deviated so much from Nicos but would not go again.

    My husband & I had dined here several times during the pre-pandemic era. But this was our first time back since its re-opening. We were very happy with our experience! Interesting menu. Very good food. Terrific service. With a view! Who could ask for more?!?!?

    We had a great experience here! The food was delicious! It was a great place to celebrate a birthday!

    Seafood & fish have delicate flavor and they smothered it with heavy overpowering sauces and herbs. For them price vs taste genuinely disappointed. We had a person allergic to shellfish with us. She had limited selection to choose from. We were surprised there was no chicken or pasta in the menu. Thought this would beat out Waikiki restaurants. Won't be back.

    We were very pleased with our entire experience at the restaurant. The restaurant looks like it has been upgraded since the last time we last visited. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the Parker house rolls, pear and beet salad and French onion soup. They only serve dinner now, but we're hoping they will start serving lunch sometime soon. We're looking forward to our next visit!
