Located just over the bridge from Anna Maria Island and the famous Coquina Beach State Park, the hidden gem of Longboat Key is Ventura's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. You will find this friendly neighborhood gem tucked away in the corner at Whitney Plaza, a short drive from Sarasota and the Famous St. Armand's circle on the scenic Gulf of Mexico Drive. Ventura's is family-owned and operated, open for dinner seven nights a week. Join us before or after sunset, to enjoy homemade Italian dishes, hand-tossed pizzas, amazing deserts, a large selection of small vineyard wines, and a full bar to satisfy all your cravings. Indoor or waterfront al fresco dining is available. Private parties, wine tasting dinners, catering & special events are offered. Order ahead for full menu takeout and local delivery.

Surprised that with an open table reservation that they tried putting us at the first table by the door in the bar. We have red tide and said can’t we have a different table but got one away from. The door when there were a lot of tables still open. That is the first time using Open Table that we had such a poor table.

Second time in a row that kitchen misplaced my ticket and I and had an over an hour wait, even with complaining. Too busy and too undisciplined.

We were seated promptly and our server, Terri, was a hoot! We had fried mozzarella, which came in large wedges rather than sticks. For entrees, my husband had lasagna, and I had chicken parmigiana. Both excellent and huge servings (we each brought home enough for another meal). Terri made the evening with her good humor and great service.

Best pizza anywhere (and we’re from New York)! Friendly service. Casual atmosphere. Definitely merits a visit… or two… or three.

Four of us went to dinner last night at Ventura. The evening started out when we asked the server what the special was. Her reply “flounder”. When we try to get a little more info about the dish, she basically told us I don’t know. This is an Italian restaurant. I wouldn’t order fish in Italian restaurant. If you want fish, I would go to a seafood restaurant. It was extremely rude and set a very strange note for the evening. Our food took a very long time to come, even though the restaurant did not seem very busy. The eggplant Parmesan was cold. I received chicken piccata when I ordered chicken marsala. They did bring back the right dish out, but I cannot believe how unappealing it looked. The chicken was pure white looked like it was just boiled in water And then had zero flavor. The accompanying side of pasta was just piled on the side of the plate with no marsala sauce or nothing on it, just plain. The chicken Caesar salad we thought was grilled chicken, it also looked like it had just been boiled in water. This is very strange as we’ve been to Ventura before and have had good meals there. Obviously there is something going on in the kitchen, but we will not be back.

Wonderful staff from busboy to owner. Pizza was fantastic and their house salad was great. Would highly recommend

I just had a wonderful meal here. 2 of us got the pizza bowl, 1 chicken cacciatore and 1 pizza. All of it was great. One of the pizza bowls was not correct so they remade it. The owner was helping out taking orders and bringing food out. I love supporting local businesses and when the food and service is this good it makes it easy.
