Located just over the bridge from Anna Maria Island and the famous Coquina Beach State Park, the hidden gem of Longboat Key is Ventura's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar. You will find this friendly neighborhood gem tucked away in the corner at Whitney Plaza, a short drive from Sarasota and the Famous St. Armand's circle on the scenic Gulf of Mexico Drive. Ventura's is family-owned and operated, open for dinner seven nights a week. Join us before or after sunset, to enjoy homemade Italian dishes, hand-tossed pizzas, amazing deserts, a large selection of small vineyard wines, and a full bar to satisfy all your cravings. Indoor or waterfront al fresco dining is available. Private parties, wine tasting dinners, catering & special events are offered. Order ahead for full menu takeout and local delivery.

Excellent food and service. The meatballs in particular are fantastic. Our waitress and support staff were very friendly and attentive.

The food was not good. Salads smothered in dressing . The main courses were smothered in sauces. Very very disappointing .

Promptly seated—excellent server. Tasty Pizza, linguini clam sauce and chicken franchese. Moderately priced. Enjoyable evening.

Not a good experience! Save your money and choose somewhere else to dine. Was out of there house Cabernet, was told was out of pizza crust for a thin crust pizza, ordered another kind of pizza and it took forever. Waited so long for the pizza to come, we ended up taking the pizza to go. This is an Italian restaurant! Like I said choose somewhere different.

My husband and I wanted a quiet intimate dinner for our Anniversary but it was far from it. The restaurant had a large loud group celebrating a birthday which overwhelmed the kitchen and serving staff. We waited almost an hour for our appetizer and a hour and 1/2 for our dinner. Our waitress never came to our table to apologize and when we questioned the wait for our food she simply stated the kitchen is very busy. Amazingly customers that were seated after us were served before us! Needless to say our experience tonight was not a good one

Service was rushed without reason. Entrees delivered before we finished salad and appetizers (within 5 minutes of appy delivery to the table). The fish (cod) needed more spice; the fish was well prepared/fresh. The eggplant was great but the sauce needed more spice/pizazz. The arugala salad was fresh. The broccoli rabe needed garlic. We were not offered a second glass of wine, dessert or coffee. A disappointing experience.

Surprised that with an open table reservation that they tried putting us at the first table by the door in the bar. We have red tide and said can’t we have a different table but got one away from. The door when there were a lot of tables still open. That is the first time using Open Table that we had such a poor table.

Second time in a row that kitchen misplaced my ticket and I and had an over an hour wait, even with complaining. Too busy and too undisciplined.

We were seated promptly and our server, Terri, was a hoot! We had fried mozzarella, which came in large wedges rather than sticks. For entrees, my husband had lasagna, and I had chicken parmigiana. Both excellent and huge servings (we each brought home enough for another meal). Terri made the evening with her good humor and great service.
