   Unfortunately first experience was, although we were the first diners to arrive, we were told as they were exceptionally, we had been allocated a table in far corner! This I refused to accept and chose my own table, which was agreed. We were served very attentively and food was good. Our main disappointment was that you started serving high tea, to three tables close to us, from 13.00 hours, which did not seem appropriate. For this reason we will not come again.

   A fairly limited menu, but I found there was enough choice for me. The food was nicely presented and cooked well.

    Hello, From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted by an arrogant guest sat ignoring his small dog loudly barking in the lounge area near Reception, we naturally, knowing how close we could be sat to this noise once we were seated in the Victoria, quickly spoke to the Reception staff and asked if he'd address it if it carried on and he looked cross with the man and assured us that he would. Great. We walked down the corridor to the Victoria and immediately felt underwhelmed. 1pm on a Sunday in Cheltenham, it should he difficult to get a table, but 90% of the tables were empty. We were sat just inside the double doors to the right, where two black shelves sat above our heads - completely empty! No plants, ornaments, pictures. Just empty shelves with a thin layer on grey dust. The tables had no tablecloths and the marks from a wet cloth where the table had air dried were still visible. We had no little t-light or candle and just felt it was lacking those little details that make such a big difference. Barely any cost or effort is needed to create a cleaner, cosier, well dressed restaurant. For this reason, we didn't order starters, desserts or more than one glass of wine. We had our roast chicken Sunday lunch and headed home for dessert and coffees. The chicken tasted absolutely delicious, so well seasoned, flavoursome, moist and the yorkshire pudding was great. As with most places serving a Sunday roast, it's a very rare find to come across a restaurant or pub that can do a good roast potato over a long period, in large quantities. Sadly, the Victoria was one of many that have disappointed us (there have been a fair few that haven't!) and we did not enjoy the roast potatoes as they were quite dry and difficult to cut. The accompanying vegetables were fine, completely edible, tasty and pleasant, but not as wow as the chicken. Nice gravy which pulled the Roast lunch together nicely and it was fine for a pretty decent Sunday roast, for £21.
