La Sen Bistro in Walnut Creek is serving the parallel French-California classic samples of duck confit, rack of lamb, escargot, beef bourguignon and mussels - just to name a few. These great samples were recognized by the Diablo Magazine, San Francisco Chronicles, Contra Costa Times and San Jose Mercury News. In addition, these samples were also recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2007, 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Great Restaurant with wonderful food and pleasant ambiance. However server was a tad cold and did not acknowledge it was our anniversary even though it was part of our reservation.

Intimate dining, so when restaurant is full, it can get pretty loud. Food was well prepared and excellent. Duck breast was some of the best I’ve had. Excellent salads and onion soup. Only problem was the pace of service. Our dinner reservation was at 6:30, and we were seated around 6:45. Bread, water, wine, and menus came soon after. About 30 minutes later waiter took our order. It seemed like only one waiter took food orders. As we finished our bottle of wine, an hour later, our soup and salad came. We finally got main courses at about 8:30. Food was hot and everyone’s order was delicious. Lamb chops, pork chop, lamb breast, coq ou vin. It was just by the time we got our food we were tired of waiting. Everyone in the restaurant was in the same boat. Granted it’s Christmas time and the restaurant was packed. We would definitely go back, but maybe in January on a Tuesday night.

Excellently prepared unpretentious French food in relaxing venue. Modest size; service pace can slow when it gets busy. Happy to travel from Berkeley to Walnut Creek for a lovely meal.

My parents are French immigrants so I’m a little picky with French cuisine. Have to say the food was on point. Generous portions and priced appropriately. Thank you Lam for the impromptu wine tasting.

The food at La Sen is outstanding the service has never improved even though they now have more staff...too bad because it impacts the experience to have forgetfulness and servers running back and forth. And a bus boy waking back and forth doing nothing, Waiters are doing his job bringing out dishes and setting up new tables...need professional training
