Established in 1997 Waraji has been offering an extensive selection of sushi, sashimi & authentic Japanese cuisine. We also feature a unique selection of Japanese microbrewery rice-based beers. Our sushi menu includes the highest quality sushi and sashimi including omakase, japanese uni, hirame, spanish bluefin, madai, king salmon, hamachi and a wide variety of specialty house rolls (Scary Jerry, Hinata, and The Sweet Dragon just to name a few) Our authentic kitchen offers a full menu of tempura, teriyaki grilled items, nabeyaki udon, katsudon, sukiyaki, shabu shabu hotpot, A5 wagyu, ishiyaki, chawanmushi, age nasu, gyudon. Chef Masa, with over 30 years of sushi experience, invites you to join him and his staff for a true taste of Japan.

Waraji added an Izakaya Lounge which has the largest Sake and Japanese Whiskey selection in the Carolinas. Also, we carry Japanese Beers such as Matcha IPA, Orion, Sapporo, Kirin, Asahi, and Echigo Koshihikari as well as a fine selection of wine.

Sushi was good, but ponzu and tempura sauce were just fair and tasted very different from all others I’ve had in the past. Even the miso soup had an odd flavor, so I’m not sure what’s going on in the kitchen. Shumai and chicken teriyaki were pretty good though. Overall, I’d say it’s an overrated restaurant and a disappointing experience. If it won best of Raleigh last year, it speaks volumes about the lack of good Japanese food in the triangle.

The shrimp appetizer was fabulous! Drinks were good! Food was excellent. So much good stuff on the menu, I didn't know where to start.

this place is SO GOOD. came for the first time last weekend, kept thinking about it and had to come back this weekend for lunch! pinching myself for not coming here sooner.

We have been going to Waraji since 2012 I think. We travel a lot and the quality of the fish, sushi, kitchen food and sake selection is the best we have found anywhere. The guacamole roll is off menu and it is delicious.

The food was good, however it took about 55 minutes for it to come. I understand that sushi takes longer to make, but my table had 3 rolls. Our waitress was nice but spilled some water on us, and didn’t really check on us. The restaurant itself was cute and the staff reset the tables thoroughly.

Sushi was excellent as always. Waiter didn’t enter our order accurately so we had to have it returned for correction. After ordering, another lady came by ask if we wanted a salad which I said yes but it never arrived.
