Waterfront View - Modern Australian Grill & Wine Bar is the newest sister venue of Tomodachi Izakaya Bar and BBQ Legend, located at heard of Geelong eastern beach road and patrons are greeted with an ambiance that seamlessly marries modernity with tradition in Australian restaurant. Once known for its delectable owner chef Michael Bong and his team`s local dishes, refreshing tap beer and veriety of wine selection, the venue has undergone a remarkable transformation. The brainchild of the visionary owners, who also helm the revered Tomodachi Izakaya Bar, BBQ Legend and now opening a new Local Australian inspired restaurant. Meticulously curated to deliver an immersive culinary journey from owner chef Michael Bong`s life.

Visited on Sunday for a dinner date and we were extremely disappointed. There was one waiter serving both inside and outside, she was flustered and rude naturally with the stress of managing all the tables. You order your food at the checkpoint, QR codes would have been better. Ordered the seafood marinara and tasted like defrosted seafood with a bland tomatoes sauce. My food came out first, then 20mins later my partners pasta, then drinks. There are literally only about 4 cocktails on the menu and the cashier/bartender was not able to make any other drinks. There seemed to be good reviews online so we thought we would give it a try. We had a much more elevated dining experience at Sailors Rest further down during lunch service.

Probably just ordered the wrong Dish as everything else coming out of the Kitchen looked great, but we ordered the Seafood Platter for two and most of it was inedible. Overcooked prawns that were so chewy, warm oysters and scallops with a strange Pesto topping? Sweet Potatoe chips were soggy!

Prior to my partner and I ordering dinner, which we were told there is no table service you must order at the counter, we both needed to use the toilet. I've never seen filth like it. If that's what the toilet looks like then how clean is the kitchen? We walked straight out without ordering a thing. You cannot have a Grill and Wine bar on the waterfront and expect to be there for long with no table service and pure filth in the toilets. Don't waste your time nor your money.

Very upbeat head waitress. Rest of the service was slow, wrong orders kept being delivered to our table. Food average, prices way too high for sub standard cafe food. Ambience? There were several empty cheap poster frames on the walls. Our experience was poor to say the least
