   Made a reservation weeks ahead for half a dozen friends for my birthday. When we arrived, there was a bigger event going on in their (lovely) patio, and they seemed to have lost our reservation. They wanted to put us inside, but I had asked for outside and had to insist. Found the house drinks poor and expensive, but the more standard cocktails were OK. We didn't eat, just a few rounds of drinks. I'd recommend for your big event, but it's not made for a small gathering. After some initial stiffness, the staff were lovely. They got cake.

   Food was insanely over priced for a small portion and being just generally mediocre. Service was extremely slow and inattentive, with little to no other customers in the restaurant.

   From the start, not a good experience. The sign at front says to wait to be seated. Nobody approached or said they'd be right over. We approached the bar to say we had reservations and the guy threw a menu at us. We took a seat outside on the patio. There were only two other tables of patrons, but one was a large party. It took forever to get a drink and then food order in. Drinks came out quickly, but food took about an hour. For a burger and a pasta dish. They didn't tell us until we got up to walk out that they'd put the large group order in first and that we'd have to wait. They also came by the table once prior to us getting up to say it'd be just a few more minutes (lie!). About another 20 min later food arrived. My requested medium rare burger was more than well done. I ate it anyway because it was late and I was starving. They insisted on cooking me another....also over cooked. They did end up comping the food which is the least I would have expected, but service was terrible due to lack of communication. There were never more than 3 tables of patrons at a time and maybe 3-4 people at the bar with multiple staff walking around. It's unfortunate because the space is cute and would be great to enjoy in warmer weather. It was also a Saturday, so shouldn't have been an "off" or slow day.

   I was happy to have found a place that still had reservations for Mother's day...I learned why pretty quickly. This place is cute especially their outdoor area but that is about it. Getting out table clean and ready was a bit of an issue and we stood around in the backyard waiting for a service person to show up. I wasn't made aware at time of booking that they only had buffet that day otherwise I would have not taken a reservation at 1:30pm. The food looked ok, yet had been out a while so the fish was overcooked, the beef was cold and dried out, and the list goes on...it was not great food for the price especially. The pastries were ok. The waiter was nice yet at some point they just wanted us out, brought and discussed the check in the middle of us eating and never refilled water even though we asked. It was probably the worst food I had in San Diego so far living here for 10 years and going out frequently for food.

   It would be more appropriate to give their staff zero stars. I’m not to sure about the food as we unfortunately didn’t get to eat. When we arrived with a reservation, we were the only party waiting and was asked to hold while they prepare the table, obviously reasonable. However, three more parties, with no reservations (they each said they called the front desk and said there was no wait) showed up shortly after us (parties of 2,3, & 5) and was seated almost immediately upon checking in with the host. After they were comfortable seated the host came up to me and asked AGAIN if I had a reservation, as if we didn’t speak 10 minutes prior, and asked me to wait while he prepares a table. Not too long after, we got seated at a table with spilled coffee on it and waited for our server to arrive. No one came and we decided to leave and will not be returning. Very poor service.

   Don’t get me wrong, the food was delicious. However, they said ‘seasonal jam’, which is apparently the little packets of smuckers jam, and we needed to ask specifically for utensils.

    Great little boutique hotel and restaurant. Loved the decor inside and out, very modern but very comfortable. Food was excellent and the attention to detail and service was outstanding. Wasn't sure at first about the neighborhoood but the valet service and service received put us at ease. We only reserved for brunch but would def stay here as an option when visiting San Diego in the future.
