Well what a shame. The food was outstanding but the service was very poor.We arrived stood at the bar for at least 10 mins with no acknowledgement.I asked if our booked table was ready to be seated..'yeah over there w are just getting it ready' was the reply. 5 minutes later the 4 of us were seated. No cutlery, no condiments t the table. A guy came over to take our drinks order, 20 mins later a guy came over to take our food order but we had to ask where our drinks were. The reply ''oh I will go and check' came back to the table 'sorry we have lost your drinks order can I take your order again' Three of us ordered Steaks. The food arrived, our cutlery was then dropped in a pile in the middle of the table, there was only one steak knife...we had to ask for 2 more...still no condiments. The food was outstanding, the Steaks were very tasty. We were then asked if we would like more drinks. My husband asked for a coffee the reply was' the coffee machine is now turned off' at 8.55pm omg! We we never asked if we would like to see the dessert menu.We left just after that as we were so shocked at the service we had received. What a let down. This is not what you expect on a Saturday evening. I think we will try The Bull, across the road next time.

Exceeded expectations. Food was to a high standard, tasty and cooked perfectly. Will be coming back next time in the area visiting family again

Disappointing birthday meal out. Portion sizes were small, and the food was bland. Staff didn’t seem to know what food was available The butternut and lentil Wellington that we had seen on the menu on their website wasn’t on the menu at the pub. We were told the website needed updating! The only vegan alternative was a burger. Then we found a separate pie menu on the table, and the vegan wellington was on it. We queried it with the staff, and lo and behold it was available! Unfortunately the pastry was rock hard and the filling bland. It was served with a tiny but quite nice salad and a few bits of greasy potato. Partner had beer battered cod & fries. Had to order more fries as there were hardly any on the plate, but we weren’t charged for them. Overall a disappointing evening, and won’t be returning.

Booked a table for 3 people for lunch on 25 September through Open Table App which confirmed my reservation. Arrived around 1pm to be told the oven had broken that morning so no food could be served! No attempt had been made to contact me beforehand to let me know despite giving telephone contact details on booking. Followed up with an email to website and to date have heard nothing! Appalling service - they obviously don’t care about customers or repeat business! Will not be returning!

Very poor we booked a table for 4.30 we wanted a Sunday roast only to be told thay had run out of roast dinners seems very early in the day to run out of what would probably be the most meal on the menu

First time here. We booked a table for a Friday lunchtime, and as we were the first ones in, we thought we might not have needed to, but it soon filled up. The dark wood decor gave it that traditional pub feel, and I could imagine it being really cosy on a cold day. We had warm welcome as soon as we came through the door, which was a great first impression. We went for the lunch deal of a meal and a drink for £11. My husband had the plant burger, and I paid an extra £1 and went for the steak sandwich. Both came with chips and both were excellent. We will definitely be coming back!

Started to get back to how it was a few years ago.. Good atmosphere and food was excellent.. just a little expensive so we don't go as often as we would like.
