On a very cold evening, there were fires in 2 large fireplaces, which gave a warm and inviting atmosphere. The historic building was immaculately kept. The white table cloths added sophistication. The steak frites was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The chicken marsala was nicely done, but we were disappointed with the mashed potatoes, which were mainly a butter puree with a hint of potato. We took a risk ordering the pasta with ragu in a traditional, non-Italian restaurant, but it really paid off. It was absolutely delicious. High quality meat. Authentic Italian taste and al dente pasta. They also had an extensive wine list. The server was very pleasant and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Our whole experience was wonderful. The building itself is a 350+ year old colonial gem, and our dining room had a nice warm fire going in the fireplace, a delight after coming in from the freezing cold. There are no "mocktails" on the menu, but the bartender made a delicious one for us. The cheese and meat appetizer was delicious, and our entrees (Beef Wellington and a swordfish steak) were amazing.

Food and service were outstanding. We had 5 servers checking in to see what we needed but in a subtle non disruptive way. Best meal I’ve had in quite a while including a scrumptious dessert! Staff was wonderful and we loved learning about the history of the oldest restaurant in the US. Definitely a treat!

Our second time dining at the White Horse Tavern and it was just as great as the first time! Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and just all around great! The oysters were delicious. Great wine selection, and our meal was superb! We will definitely be back.

To start we had a 645 reservation party of two and we called and said we would be about 20 minutes late due to snowstorm. Hostess said we have to be there by 7 o’clock, which is their 15 minute window with a table will be given away. We rushed and actually made it there on time but was very frantic. I can understand the 15 minute window table being held if we didn’t call, but calling letting them know, I don’t believe that should’ve been policy. They weren’t going to see the table afterwards, so it should not have been a question of turn. The waiter though nice did not mention any specials, also charge us $8.50 for a cup of decaf coffee, represented us with a large pot. The salmon board was wonderful as well the scallops, the chicken, subbed, brussels sprouts with it, had way too much sauce. Share plates were never put on the table with the appetizer, Runner just dropped it off and left. I am in the industry as well, I was just a little disappointed since we were there once before and had a wonderful time. I think the initial rush started us on a bad foot. Last I left my phone when I return and look at the table and saw the Waiter. They didn’t seem to know anything about it yet. It was at the front desk. On a good note The bearded bus person was very nice and accommodating.

A fantastic setting filled with all the historic charm we expected. Business casual dress code during blustery February days should always include a sweater when seated away from the fireplace. The menu was very upscale as fitting the venue, but the best executions were amongst the appetizers and raw bar. Great oysters! A surprising common thread was a lack of flavor and what we considered "overselling" on the descriptions. We strained to find honey in the honey glazed carrots, the foie gras in the wellington was nearly imperceptible, and even the bacon wrapped scallops lacked flavor without the excellent relish bed. Dessert was the low point. Cheesecake bread pudding was not successful in flavor nor texture and the orange vanilla creme brulee was far too thin and no orange to be found. In general, we would score the food 7 out of 10. The staff was excellent, providing cheery and attentive service throughout.

Great restaurant for a romantic winter meal. The large fireplaces with roaring fires, dark colonial interior, and fantastic Beef Wellington and Duck made for a special Valentines meal. And the service was good and not rushed on such a busy night. One constructive recommendation. While your hostess were great, we felt much better dressed than they were. It gave a first impression we did not expect. Maybe they could benefit from work uniform ? Overall, thanks WHT. You always make holiday dinners very special
