I booked The White Horse Oyster Bar for my boyfriends birthday, as a special treat. From start to finish, our lunch experience was incredible. From entering, we were warmly welcomed by Hubert and taken to our seats at the speakeasy style, bar. Hubert’s knowledge and recommendations were fantastic. The wine he suggested complimented our plates perfectly. The food itself was superior and having booked our table during the oyster happy hour, made it even better. Each dish was beautifully presented, fresh and packed with flavour. The tempura oysters and the buttermilk cod were a highlight, paired with Hubert’s recommendation of the Conde Villar, Portuguese wine, which was a perfect match. From start to finish our whole experience at the White Horse Oyster Bar was one to remember. Thank you to Hubert for making our experience exceptional and to the talented chefs for such wonderful dishes. The White Horse Oyster Bar is not one to miss!

Hi, We came Friday evening for a dinner after receiving positive recommendations from local living in Edinburgh. Overall our experience didn't live up to the expectations, unfortunately. While ambiance was quite nice and cosy, the service was very disappointing. The waiters were more busy chatting with their friends sitting at the bar, than taking care of customers. And with 3 waiters for maybe 10 tables, you would expect more. Here some examples of what went wrong - We had to proactively ask for drinks but once those were empty, this was it and we were left all dinner with empty glasses on the table. After we finished our food, we were asked if we wanted sth more to drink. Kind of 1h too late. - Both our table and the one next to us were left with dirty plates for good 10-15min after finishing food. While at the same time we kept seeing the waiters having fun at the bar in front of us. - Part of our order had been forgotten (the starters). This can happen but then at least apologise for it and make up for it. The waiter smiled and said we could still get them after.

Lovely ambience and cocktail selection. Good quality fish but quite bland preparation with overly buttery/creamy/mayonnaise sauces. Crab chips were a nice idea but came completely cold. Think a bit more imagination in menu and attention to detail on service could be required for the price point but all in all I’d recommend.

We had a fabulous anniversary meal in the perfect of setting with attentive service and great celebration of seafood on across a lovely range of small plates.

Our food and service was fabulous as usual and have no complaints there. However a family of three were sat at the table next to us, who for the next 30 or 45 minutes had an argument at the top of their voices. The daughter who was 34 and should know how to conduct herself spent the night hole time screaming at her mother f’ing and blinding at the top of her voice. The diners at the other side of them left. At not one single point did any member of staff approach them to ask them to keep it down. Which was a disgrace. I was also flustered paying by card and added an extra tip on, waitress explained this when I questioned but at no point offered to rectify! When we left, a quick glance round the other diners showed they were as impressed as much as we were by this family. The mother at least had the good sense to walk out. The management should have stepped in and asked them to leave about 10 mins after they arrived. I do not expect to pay over £200 for two pp and put up with this.
