At the heart of the vibrant Tucson gastronomic scene is a quaint, family owned restaurant that has made a name for itself by combining the classical French education of Executive Chef Steven Schultz with the flavors of traditional southwest cuisine. Driven by the vision of casual fine dining that he shares with wife and Maudi Gourdin, the pair have managed to make The Wild Garlic Grill one of Tucson’s premiere destinations for food lovers from all walks of life.     I ordered the special, Chilean sea bass; I’ve never before been served fish so undercooked-almost raw. We will never eat there again.

    Fantastic meal at Wild Garlic Grill made even better by our fabulous server Alexis who knew the menu inside and out, made excellent recommendations, and provided superb service. Menu has a lot of variety, is well prepared, and beautifully presented.

    We decided to give WGG another try after many years and we were very pleased. On our previous visits, even with reservations, we were seating well over an hour after our scheduled time and service was rushed and chaotic. Not tonight. We had an enjoyable evening with great food and service. The printed menu is only half the story, the specials are the outstanding. We will be back.

    The service was slow, we waited 15 minutes before our waitress even addressed us. She was not very attentive through out the course of our dinner. My water glass sat empty a few times even though she passed by our table several times. I would definitely have given her a pass if the restaurant was at max capacity but I thought the amount of guests were manageable. I ordered the chef’s special rack of lambs. The lambs were a bit on the fatty side but the flavor was wonderful. The lamb was complemented garlic mashed potatoes which were also fantastic. My wife ordered the garlic chicken breast which came with veggies. She was overall disappointed with the taste of her meal. However, what I presume was the manager was really nice. She recommended and brought out the chef’s garden special mint jam to complement my lamb chops. It was different but worked really well with the lamb.

    As usual food was excellent. Also excellent value for menu items. 1. Checking in even with reservations problematic at podium. 2. Bigger complaint not just to this restaurant: When the “specials “ are double the price of the average menu prices the wait staff should mention it. Since Wild Garlic has more specials than menu entrees they should either have the pricing on the blackboard by podium or the waitstaff should indicate the prices when reciting the specials, When Beef Bourguignon is $26 on menu, grilled tuna should not be $52 as a special without alerting diner. I am just uncomfortable splitting a bill with another couple when our dishes are double theirs.

    The food and our servers were great. However, the service provided by the host/owner was slow and awkward by the line of her questions.

    Food was fantastic! We were in the very back area and the ambiance was not as great but it was more quiet! It is a favorite place to go for Joyce and me!

    Food was excellent. Waited awhile after water for the waitress to come. Although she was, once there, very informative and attentive thereafter. We had the Sea Bass and Ciopino, which were both excellent. Mussels for an appetizer easily a lighter meal and also excellent. Had a nice evening.
