Xiquet (chee-KETT) by Chef Danny Lledó features a sought-after tasting menu showcasing the finest products from around the world served with warm, Mediterranean hospitality. Known as one of the best fine dining restaurants in Washington DC for its modern Spanish cuisine, Xiquet has held a MICHELIN Star since 2021 and earned MICHELIN’s Sommelier of the Year Award in 2022. In the same year, AAA honored Xiquet with the travel authority’s highest rating, making it the only Five Diamond restaurant currently in the city. Recently, in 2023, the DC Restaurant Association awarded Xiquet with the RAMMY of Best Formal Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year.

    I was excited to come here especially given I had just been to Spain, but was sadly disappointed. Service was attentive, although the sommelier seemed a little stuffy. Drinks by the glass were limited (only those offered for the wine pairing) and pricey for either a 2 or 5oz pour; mostly bottles (all high $$$). Surprisingly there were no cocktail offerings, which was also disappointing. Some dishes were delicious but some hit the mark. The first course/Act 1, which was a platter of small bites, was a bad start. The rose water apple had good texture but was overpowered by rose water…it felt like I was eating a grandmother’s old perfume bottle. I suppose if you like rose water you might like it but it was a terrible first bite (instructed to start with apple rose, followed by another; and the rest in the order of our choice…didn’t finish a single one). It definitely made us worried about the rest. Thankfully the octopus dish was much better-but I’m a sucker for Uni and who doesn’t like beurre blanc sauce?!? The star of the show was the paella…perfection! Could have eaten that all day! The pork and waygu beef dish was also well executed but not a wow. The dessert assortment was eh…the main one was some sort of chocolate donut-didn’t finish that one; however the little bites in the box-gelee, pistachio, and some other tiny bites were pretty good. Overall I was disappointed for a Michelin star…not worth the price-point, and sadly would not return.

    great experience. we paired with the standad wine and it was very instructive as most of them were spanish . you end up on the second floor for desert and cafe/sweet drink. there is only 8 table so its very romantic and you fill staff is looking after you. the Danny welcome you and is very open about his style.

    It is exciting to come back here again and starting the year out with a great experience.  the tasty menu keeps evolving and it’s great to see Chef Danny check in with us with his warm hospitality.  I look forward to coming back later in the year.

    Enjoyed the new Menu, I am determined to collect the whole deck of cards this year each quarter. The wine pairing is phenomenal, getting to try a new Domaine la Flaive and the Contador is a truly unforgettable.

    Excellent cuisine and service. Excellent staff. I was uncomfortable, however, with their explanation of a 20% service charge on the bill with the explanation that it would not go to the servers and was not a tip. This seems to be an excessive “service charge.“ This practice is out of control. It’s the only element that left a bad taste. UPDATE: I was pleased to receive a call from Chef Dannie and we had a robust conversation about the dining excellence and the nature of the charges at Xiquet. He was receptive and very accommodating. He discussed the service charge DOES go to the servers and is critical to his restaurant paying all of the staff proper wages. We discussed how to message this to his customers. We discussed the national trend of these service charges and the local factors affecting wages and operation charges. I still feel every restaurant should charge what is needed in a total bill and leave additional percentages add ons to the customer as an expression of gratitude for the excellence of the experience and service. Xiquet provides an extraordinary experience . I am impressed by his commitment to excellence, caring for his customers, and a strong ethical commitment to his service staff throughout the restaurant. I appreciated his time and effort to call me.I would definitely return . George Santos MD

    I recently dined at Xiquet by Danny Lledó and had the incredible 10-course tasting menu. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely unforgettable. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing exceptional creativity, technique, and flavors that truly honored Valencia's culinary traditions. The service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and professional. The staff’s knowledge of the menu and wine pairings added so much depth to the meal, making every course feel even more special. The attention to detail in both the presentation of the dishes and the ambiance of the restaurant was remarkable. I especially appreciated how each dish told a story, reflecting the chef’s passion and expertise. It’s rare to find a dining experience that’s both so elevated and so personal. Xiquet is not just a meal—it’s a journey, and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone seeking a fine dining experience that leaves a lasting impression. I can’t wait to return!

    Very nice concept with great service. The food, however, had several inconsistencies with lack of flavor, lack of seasoning, and watery sauces throughout several dishes which fell short of expectation.

    Chef Danny & his team were so friendly & hospitable yet professional. It was as though we were the only guests in the room! The food was so inventive & beautiful & delicious. Wonderful evening! Highly recommend!
