   I highly recommend this fabulous gem in Coogee. Fabulous cocktails, great menu featuring cooking on open fire which adds another level to results. The staff were very attentive. A stand out was the home made burnt Basque cheesecake which literally melted in your mouth. Very reasonably priced as well. Overall a fabulous vibe.

   My friend and I were very disappointed with our short-lived experience at Yana. Earlier in the evening prior to our booking time, I had called Yana to ask whether there would be set menu or an a la carte menu for dinner. I was told that we would be given the option to choose between the set menu or a la carte menu, which my friend and I were very pleased about as we were not looking to spend $130 on a set menu. However, upon arriving at Yana, we were seated at our table and only given the $130 per person set menu for Valentine’s Day. We asked the waiter for the a la carte menu, however, he rudely pointed out that there was only a set menu for the night. I then went on to tell him that I had called earlier in the night and had been informed that we would be able to choose between the set menu and a la carte menu, but the waiter just simply shook his head and said that there was only a set menu. We were quite taken aback by his impolite and unfriendly manner, as well as Yana’s inability to accommodate our needs. So, my friend and I got up and left, and instead enjoyed a lovely Galentines dinner at La Spiaggia right next door. It’s safe to say I will not be returning to Yana on principle. Very disappointed.

   A very disappointing evening. We’d been excited to try Yana as it looks very nice. We had booked a La carte however on arrival was told it was a $130 set menu + $39 wine pairing, which was annoying as this was not what we had booked or anticipated. We waited an hour to be brought the first entree which was foccacia and oysters. After two hours we still had only received 2 out of 5 courses. Other couples had already left due to a similar experience. When speaking to the manager, he handled the situation very poorly and rudely saying there would be no discount, everyone is in the same position as they’d tried to accommodate people without bookings and that he “did not care” we were unhappy. He then told us he was cancelling our bill and told us to leave, so we did. We won’t be returning back, which is a real shame as the restaurant looks nice and could potentially be a good dinner spot in Coogee.

   The kitchen was behind and burning food. Servers were dropping glasses left and right. Drink orders were forgotten and the food was just ok. Looks like great ambiance from the street but won’t be back.

   Has a nice ambience but standards at the restraurant have certainly dropped since it first opened. Greeted by the host & taken to our table with a super sticky food menu. Ordered our drinks then waited & waited, tried ordering our food from the QR code on the table but that didn't have the menu or order options. 40mins into sitting down, we finally flagged down a waiter to ask how we order as other diners had arrived after us & were already receiving their food. After a mix up of the order, the food arrived. While there was lots of opportunity for flavour, it was all relatively bland. We would have ordered a few more drinks once our meals arrived but they were not offered & we had flagged the waiters so many times that just wanted to finish the meal & go across the road for a wine or 2. The bathrooms were unkept, sanitary bins overflowing & soap dispensers empty & broken. Disappointing how things have changed in the 12 months since it's opened. Feels like the owners have changed &/or lost interest in the restaurant.

   Comically bad service but food quality good, decent ambience needs management badly - forgetful halfwits letting the side down

   So much potential, but failed. We waited two hours for our meal. Staff were unapologetic. Some of our food was very good - others were below average. The fire alarm went off. Lots of people were complaining. When we asked for discount for the inconvenience, they came back with a higher price! The whole experience was disappointing.

    I’ve never posted a restaurant review before so you can imagine how memorable the dining experience was > food was boring/bland, some entrees never arrived, despite reminders, mocktail mixes weren’t stocked, mains portions were tiny, terrible ventilation at the back of the restaurant (which was right next to the toilet), communication between waitress (who didn’t speak English) and kitchen was comical, and to top it off, we got charged with things we didn’t order. Spoke to one of the waiters about the experience, who admitted, everything at the restaurant was a disaster. So much potential and just a terrible waste and disappointment. Go, literally, anywhere else!
