Young Joni is James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim's restaurant located in the Arts District of Northeast Minneapolis. The menu is inspired by wood fire cooking and features an array of globally influenced dishes and signature pizzas. Dining Room reservations are offered for dinner and weekend brunch; walk-ins are available at our bar and community table.

Young Joni is the recipient of 2019's James Beard Award for "Best Chef Midwest"; it has been featured in the New York Times and Vogue, and on Netflix's "Chef's Table: Pizza."

Tucked discreetly behind Young Joni is the back bar, serving full and no-proof craft cocktails and pizzas in a warm, analog setting. Esquire named it one of 2019's Best Bars in America and Eater called it an "Essential Minneapolis Bar." Walk down the alley alongside Young Joni and look for the red light; when the light is on, the back bar is open!

From the OpenTable editors: Exciting, creative pizzas and other wood-fired dishes are the focus at this beloved Northeast Minneapolis restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Ann Kim. Like at her other two restaurants, the Chef's Table star leans on her Korean heritage in must-order dishes like the umami mama pizza with three kinds of mushrooms and chewy rice cakes with a four-cheese sauce and gochugaru. Pair it with cocktails that incorporate a lot of Asian ingredients—there's even a formidable spirit-free section on the menu—and get comfortable in the spacious wood-clad interior that includes front-row seats to the pizza-making action.

    Incredible service, atmosphere and food. We thought the drinks could use a bit of work given the cost, they didn’t feel well balanced. Overall, a beautiful, memorable experience.

    FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE from start to finish. Ambiance, service, food and drinks were EXQUISITE! Will be back again soon just to have the julep cocktail and amalfi coast pizza again

    Service and food iare very good. My problem is as soon as the restaurant is full ( which is usual and great) and the music is playing the noise level goes up to the point it is very hard to carry on a conversation. I am not hard of hearing!, I wish the music was played at a much lower level so people id not feel they need to raise their voices. Thank-you

    We had a 6:30 reservation. We showed up about 10 minutes early and were seated immediately. The restaurant was busy, but the service was on point. We had the cauliflower as our app and the Amalfi pizza as the main course. I had a Modist beer and my wife had house Negroni. Everything was exceptional. One of the better dining experiences I've had in years. Our server was friendly, timely and knowledgeable. The food came out fast, and the service team worked exceptionally well together. Hard to tell who the manager was because everyone was working hard, independently and took ownership of whatever task they were doing. A+. We'll be back.

    We all had pizza and it was very good. They were bigger than we thought and could have shared a pizza with 2 people - than had room for dessert! We did also have the apple crisp which was also very good.
