Zambra is a gypsy dance of celebration, Arabic for 'flute', a wild bird, flamenco danced at a family gathering, a Moorish festival. Zambra is a group of talented people in Asheville, NC creating a feast for the senses. We create contemporary twists on the food of Spain and North Africa, and serve hundreds of wines from the land of the sun, the Iberian peninsula and all over the world. Zambra is a tapas bar and restaurant in downtown Asheville!

This restaurant is exactly as advertised. If you are looking for a slightly offbeat, eclectic tapas restaurant with good food and good service you should go there. If you want something else, don't.

Great place with very good food. Different food than lots of your everyday restaurants. Tried the octopus and it was awesome! I will definitely be back

This was hardly my first visit to Zambra; it's one of my wife's and my perennial favorites. Two years running now I've taken her and her children to Zambra for her birthday, and we've been delighted both times. The variety in their tapas offerings is sufficient to please both us and the children...quite a feat! The Brussels sprouts were our favorite, followed by the gnocchi, but you really can't go wrong with just about anything on the menu.

Love this restaurant and the food is amazing. The tapas style is great because you get to try flavor combinations from multiple small dishes. I have had more flavorful tapas at other restaurants but this place doesn't disappoint. The menu is large and always changing which is nice and keeps me coming back. The service kind of sucks. Every time I have gone the service has been subpar. The tapas concept is new or less familiar to some and the servers need to be patient or willing to walk through the menu instead of being annoyed or making the patron feel like an idiot. I am hesitant to bring friends or people who might not be as familiar with tapas because these ladies make no effort to explain or make newbies comfortable. Coming from a young female myself, I will admit they are all women with attitudes.

Great food in a unique atmosphere. This is our second time eating at Zambra while in Asheville. Love the food choices.

Amazing. The atmosphere was nice, romantic and cozy. My husband and I shared 6 plates and all were outstanding. Highly recommend the trout. Gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp) and gnocchi tied for the best dishes of the night. Service was good, no complaints there. We've eaten at tons of Asheville spots and this is one of the best.

Nice spot. We end up in Asheville about once a year driving to/from Florida. The "curator" at aloft recommended this place and it was a solid one. We walked over and it was quiet - no more than a quarter full. Karin, our wait person, had great recommendations for us about various tapas, as well how many we'd need to order. They were very tasty, especially the sesame encrusted scallops, mussels, and the chick peas. We had a good time - nice rustic feel to the place. Karin did a great job for us, too. We'll be back.

We have reviewed this restaurant before, but being vegetarian and gluten free, we always find many choices on the menu. We keep thinking we will go somewhere else to eat, but always end up back at Zambra's. It has a wonderful ambience, great food, wonderful service usually and a good wine list. We love it there! Thank you for making our choices so easy.
