Le Rathskeller Restaurant propose une ambiance bavaroise dans le centre-ville d'Indianapolis. Installé dans le cœur historique, dans le bâtiment Athenaeum datant du XIXe siècle, le Rathskeller rappelle à la fois une auberge pittoresque nichée dans les collines bavaroises et une brasserie animée de Munich. There are meters all the way around the building that you can pay up to 4 hours with a credit card. There are pay lots to the east and south of the building that charge $5-$10 per car.
Animation
May-October we have live music in our outdoor Biergarten Thursday-Saturday nights. It is 21+ area and does allow smoking. November-April we have live music inside in our ballroom and it is all ages unless otherwise specified. There is no smoking inside. Bands range from local cover bands to national rock and country.

Very much caters to the older, Midwestern crowd. Great portions, and good service too, but somewhat bland food overall. Ordered the Chicken Diane, and I expected it to come in a sauce as stated on the menu. Did not come with sauce. Also ordered mashed potatoes, which came with gravy unexpectedly (which was not on the menu and was disappointing to receive). It felt like cafeteria food, to be honest. The highlight of the meal was interacting with our server, Jennifer, who was great.

The “Rat” is my favorite restaurant in Indy. Haven’t been there in a while and it’s even better than ever.

The wait staff was very attentive. The food, unfortunately was some of the worst I have ever had. It was not edible. The prices were very high for what we received. The best part of the meal was the hot pretzel. I would eat at McDonald’s before I would eat there again.

We really enjoyed it. Servings are plentiful - which means you won't leave hungry and two people could split a meal! Nice selection of German beers, too.

This was our first time eating here. The food was pretty tasty. But the service I received was less than favorable. My cup sat empty twice for over 5 minutes, and I waited for ketchup for 10 minutes. The first drink my waitress brought me she poured a warm root beer in a warm cup with no ice. It just seemed we were being rushed out…yet not really being tended to very well. I hope if you go they exceed your expectations… because they didn’t meet mine.

Went on Valentine’s Day so they may have been busier than usual, but we were seated in a room with a totally different feel than the rest of the restaurant. The service was alright but the food compared to other German restaurants we’ve visited left us wanting.

The service was extremely terrible. Staff was dressed extremely unprofessional as if there were no dress code. Our waiter was slow, irritable, and inconsistent. We waited over an hour for our food, and when it arrived it was extremely disappointing. We paid over $115 for two of us, and it was Bob Evans quality food AT BEST. My steak was raw, and when I notified the waitress she took it back to be grilled longer, when I got the steak back it was burnt to a crisp (I ordered it medium rare). My partners meal was cold and dry, the appetizer (pesto bread) was so disgusting we didn’t even eat it. The scenery of the restaurant is stellar, which gives it tons of potential to be a great spot; However, the staff is extremely unprofessional and the food is NOWHERE NEAR good enough for the price. The only attribute this restaurant has is its decor, everything else is absolute trash. If I could give the staff, food, and service zero stars, I would.

Enjoyed our visit and food was great and more than we could eat, so now we have lunch for the next day. Kristen was great and offered great suggestions. I had the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu and my wife had the Hot Wurst Plate Appetizer. Oktoberfest Beer was great.
