The food and service was amazing. It would be a good idea to look into noise reduction measures. The concrete wall and ceiling allows for noise to echo. The Resturant is quite loud with lots of people present. Also sparkling water should be included in the water selections at no charge.

The space has a lot character. The food is very good and presented well. The options were interesting and the flavours were fresh and delicious. The portions were a nice size without being too much. Would recommend.

Beautiful Winery situated on a country road next door to The Huron Country Playhouse. During this past month we ate at the Dark Horse for both lunch and dinner pre playhouse performances. In our opinion we preferred the lunch menu, enjoying the most spectacular Quiche offering at a reasonable price. The dinner menu entrees at $50. plus, except for one entree at $48 seems excessive. Rather than ordering an entree, we chose the Charcuterie Board and the Scallop dish from the starter menu. The Charcuterie board was excellent and in fact we could have done without the three scallops. Definitely would recommend this restaurant for lunch. On both visits the servers were friendly and helpful. The service was excellent.

Selection for starters and mains were incredible; great range and not a single ounce of disappointment with any choices. Wines were great and their accommodation to allergies (dairy) didn’t affect the taste or value at all. Great dinner experience!

I made a reservation for my 23 anniversary to dine on the patio. When I arrived they told me patio is closed and they don’t make exceptions. The dining room was in the basement, very cold and dark atmosphere with concrete pillars. Very little food, for too much money. My duck was chewy, and I found cartilage in my duck ravioli. The scallops were good but the raspberry sauce didn’t go at all, and for over $30 I only got 3 scallops. Beware that the sparkling water is also $10!! The big chairs were uncomfortable to sit in as I couldn’t rest my back on them because they were too deep. The noise level was so high that the waiter couldn’t even hear us. This was my first time dining, needless to say I will not be returning. The Keg is better value for your money, this was definitely not a dinner wort $250.

The food, service and ambience were all exceptional. Staff were courteous and knowledgeable. They described in detail the flavors of the selected wines and advised on cocktails. They were attentive but not overbearing. Our table of five first ordered the fresh garden leaves and herbs salad, Digby scallops, and the fresh East coast oysters. Before they arrived we were served thin slices of sourdough bread toasted and brushed with olive oil and accompanied by a soy hummus, garlic chive butter and oil and vinegar dip. All delicious. The salad was from the vineyard’s own garden and so so fresh. The dressing was light but flavourful. The scallops were cooked to perfection and delicately flavored. The oysters were very chilled and fresh. We then ordered the duck, pickerel, and the beef tenderloin. Prior to being served our main courses we were given an amuse bouche from the chef, which was very inventive, light, and flavourful, and this was directly followed by a homemade peach sorbet to cleanse our palates. All entree choices were cooked perfectly for us (the tenderloins exactly as requested), and seasoned to perfection. The flavors were subtle and accompanied by tastes of lovely fresh vegetables and innovative sides. We could not have asked for a more beautiful and flavourful meal. Congratulations to the chef, Kris Simmons! All of us have dined at many upscale restaurants over the years and this matched and surpassed many of those. This restaurant is a hidden gem and we wish only that people near and far knew about it. Unfortunately, there has been little marketing and limited advertising. There is no indication at the entrance to the winery that there is a restaurant inside. The building and grounds are impressive, and it offers a patio overlooking the vineyard for outdoor dining should the weather cooperate. The winery and restaurant are located only a couple of minutes from downtown Grand Bend and directly next door to the Huron Country Playhouse.

Oysters were shucked incorrectly and were full of shell and grit. Other then that the food was fantastic. Really thoughtful stuff. Reminded me of the old Acadia in Toronto
