The headline about Ridge Grill is that it is an Applebee's with higher prices. There is nothing wrong about this place, and in fact it appears that the wait staff has been around for quite a while, which is usually a good sign, and my guest enjoyed her lobster mac and cheese. My issue is more with Open Table (and myself, since I carry some of the blame). Let me explain. I was visiting the area and was unable to get a reservation at the Steak restaurant that I wanted, so went to Open Table to find a steak restaurant with high ratings and close - ish to me. I entered "steak restaurants" and got a list and ratings. Pictures were nice, and I did not have a lot of time, so I booked. What I failed to realize is that any restaurant that has at least one steak on the menu (and Ridge Grill has something for everyone - kinda like Cheesecake Factory) gets on the list. It's like putting McDonald's in the category of "fish restaurants" because they have a fish thing on the menu. My steak (a $70+ bone-in rib eye) was tough and flavorless - more like a flank steak. The vegetables were nice, though. I came to realize that people factor in the type of restaurant when they review. I've reviewed a Mexican restaurant and given it 4 out of 5 stars. Does that mean it is equivalent to an expensive restaurant that also got 4 out of 5 stars? No, but the current system doesn't really account for that, so when a decent neighborhood restaurant gets favorably reviewed, its not really being compared to some upscale steak restaurant - locals know this, but out of towners do not. There are two solutions to this, I think. Either create a "Fandango" type summary of critic reviews, or have a better system for ranking across restaurant types (like the old Zagat guide had - it's okay if you don't know the reference, but it was quite popular a generation ago in the big cities). The first is easily done, with the help of AI. The second would eliminate the star system and rank sub-categories

Gluten free meal cooked well, but needed seasoning. Music was too loud and energetic for dining. Music probably good for the bar, but not dining.

It was very busy on this Saturday night. We had a reservation, but were told we would have to wait for indoor seating. We were offered seating on the heated patio. The patio was fine, but this was our special Valentine dinner and the ambiance wasn’t as nice as inside.. it is moderately loud, and too bright for an elegant dinner. The food was good, scallops were flavorful with a bright lemony wine sauce and served with rice and fresh green beans. Chicken piccata had a rather thick breading, but favor was good, and also served with rice (instead of customary pasta) and green beans. We shared a delicious key lime pie for dessert. Our server was attentive and pleasant.

Was disappointed in the quality of the food. Plus was charged $4 because we shared a meal and weren't informed ahead of time about the upcharge.

Food was mediocre. Service was great. I was served the wrong steak and it was undercooked.

The food was good and perfect portions for me, however, might not have been enough for some as I am a light eater. I ordered grilled chicken, but it was a little dry and had a bit too much pepper for my taste. The veggies were great for the exception of the carrots, they were not cooked long enough and were hard. The loaded mashed potatoes were excellent, and the service was great too, however the prices were a bit high, especially when a salad is not included with the meal. All in all, it was a nice place to eat, but not sure I will be back as the cost verses the food, to me, wasn't worth the trip.
