About the restaurant

Kai Mayfair’s cuisine has its foundation in Nanyang Chinese cooking, the region located within the South Seas of China. It takes a ‘Liberated’ approach to Chinese cooking, respectful of the flavours from its Chinese heritage but not bound by it, offering a menu primarily of specialities unique to Kai. Desserts also feature as a key part of its meal experience utilising ingredients synonymous with the Nanyang region like pandan and durian. Kai has held it’s Michelin Star since 2009.

At tea time (from 2:30pm to 4:30pm), Kai also serves its Chinese Whispers Afternoon tea which is available from our Chinese Whispers Afternoon tea opentable page.

Due to traffic i was late for my booking. I rang the restaurant and they said to still come. They welcomed me by name. Service was excellent food amazing, great cocktails. Overall ambience was very nice I would definitely return

We booked with Set menu but it wasn’t available when we went to the restaurant. This is something I disappointed a part from the experience. You should take it off from the menu. We order duck and dumplings instead of set menu, the staff gave us complimentary desert the end so overall it was good and want to comeback again.

Chef Owner, Tong Chee Hwee, former Group Executive Head Chef of Hakkasan, has returned to launch Gouqi, an Award-Winning, Fine Dining Chinese restaurant located at 25-34 Cockspur Street, St James's opposite the Canadian Embassy, Trafalgar Square.

The restaurant name derives from the goji berry, a symbol of health and vitality that inspires the ethos of the restaurant.
