   Pricy - but the food is outstanding and the restaurant is beautiful. The music is TOO LOUD - making it hard to talk over an early dinner. Asked the lovely but quite forgetful waiter to turn it down and nothing happened.

   It’s obviously under new management. The nice old Italian atmosphere has gone and it was ridiculously expensive, especially the wine.

   The service was really good and the waiters really nice. The food was good but not amazing for the price which was really high for nothing.

   Overall it’s a shame this restaurant does not live up to its well established reputation, it does not represent Italian culture while charges are not worthy of the experience. Disappointed after a long wait to make this visit. The positives were food was plentiful and the setting was really nice , excellent refurb also very nice crockery glassware etc. The service was a mixed bag and not received well. The sterile rigid reception on entering, items being forgotten during service. Wine that was not that well chilled and incorrect charges. We felt the service was high volume style but there were 4 tables circa 15 covers. We choose not to pay the service charge interestingly this wasn’t questioned as to why we didn’t feel it was not worth paying. Food was average to good, Playlist is awful and ruins the atmosphere. Fair bit of repitition on the menu. Heavily lacking authenticity and modern Italian warmth, service, menu design and structure. The experience was worth 60% of what we paid. Quite simply you can eat a for a lot higher quality for far less.

   Sale e Pepe has long been one of my favorite restaurants in London; I have been going there for more than 25 years, and they have never disappointed. The quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff is never anything short of excellent. For this visit, I hosted a special celebration dinner and everyone in attendance raved about the experience.

    The food was delicious and the staff were attentive. However the table behind us was vaping on vape pens throughout. We thought this might have been stopped by the staff but we could smell it from the moment they stepped in and started vaping throughout their meal.
