When I opened my doors in July of 2009, I committed to serving the freshest Italian dishes made from local and seasonal ingredients. I learned early the heart of Italian cooking is the flavor…or sapore. My school of teaching was from the best; my Nonna Elena and Mother Lia. Their philosophy has been carried on in my style of cooking: use simple ingredients and the food will speak for its self. Classic Italian dishes grace the menu but are personalized with my unique touch. Quality and consistency is what you will find with each dish. I would never serve anything short of that. So whether you are looking for a memorable night out or a glass of wine with friends, I am glad that you have chosen Sapore. We brought two other couples for a pre-show dinner and everything was wonderful. Seated immediately upon arrival and server was very attentive, yet aware of our need to be out in 90 minutes for an engagement. Two of us ordered the off-menu selection of sea bass which was exquisite. Fairly limited wine list but all varietals are represented and respectable selections. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the ambiance and the overall experience.

The food and ambiance were both very good. Our waiter appeared to have way too many tables to serve and barely spent any time with us. Two other helper/servers who were not our waiter delivered and cleared plates. Our waiter took our orders quickly and scrammed. Not claiming him as he seemed busy, but for the money, we thought the service was cursory and not in line with the expense of the meal. Unfortunately, the last time we ate here was during the pandemic. Lime so many other restaurants at the time, they were scrapping for workers and our meal ran up to 2 hours. Wrote that off to pandemic-era. This was our visit to hope it was going to be a very good experience. Nope, we are done.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in St. Louis. It is my husband and I's favorite place to eat dinner. The food and service are always perfect. Try the chocolate martini....amazing!
