With extensive appetizer selections including buffalo shrimp, bruschetta, fried calamari, steamed clams and truffle mac ‘n’ cheese in addition to homemade flat-breads and SAX’s signature cornbread, a classic comfort food, guests can indulge in a variety of starters or pair them with a favorite entree and dessert.

Everything from start to finish was impeccable with this meal. Our waiter was outstanding., he knew the ins and outs of everything on the menu and was able to answer any questions that we had for him. He was very attentive and was an excellent waiter. The food was amazing. We had appetizers, mains dessert and drinks. Everything was top-notch. I would return to this restaurant in a second and I’m very happy with everything about our meal.

Our first time dining at Sax. We had a wonderful experience. Our server Janiksa was so attentive and friendly. The food was great . we will definitely return there for another meal.

Our third visit in less than a month. Food was very good once again (crab cakes and salmon). Well prepared, served hot. If there was any downside to our visit it seemed like our server, who worked his tail off, was over-burdened because he was alone and had too many tables. And secondary the desire to squeeze a party of two into tine two tops when there was a restaurant full of open four tops. All in all there's no doubt that we will return once again. If you visit Stone Harbor, especially in the off season, this is a great option.

Unlike most restaurants in Stone Harbor/Avalon that are over-priced with so-so food and can’t wait to get you out the door, Sax is an enjoyable place to eat dinner. The food is excellent and (for the shore) reasonably-priced. Every time that we have been there the service has been great (our server last night, Georgiana, was excellent).
Sax is the only restaurant on 7 mile island that when we leave we say “We have to come back again.”

There was a wedding going on that made the experience pretty miserable in the dining room as the noise from the band made it hard to hear the dinner conversation. Feel like the management should have alerted people with reservations of the event prior to reservation

I am rating serviceand food high but didn’t really experience either. The wedding in the building was so loud that the restaurant felt like a club in Miami and you felt the vibrations. We didn’t even order a drink and left. Unless you don’t mind a loud environment don’t suggest dining here when a wedding is happening.

Food and service were very good on the Saturday night we dined here. However, the atmosphere was atrocious due to extremely loud music coming from the wedding on the other side of the wall coupled with the noise from a couple of larger group dining in the restaurant. Honestly, we could have overlooked the volume of the other diners, but the pounding base from the DJ next-door felt like it was shaking the tables and made it very difficult to have a conversation, even with the person next to you. When this was brought to the attention of the hostess, and then the manager, we were told they really wasn’t anything they could do. Another party that was about to be seated next to the wall between the restaurant and the reception room asked to be moved to the other side of the restaurant in hopes it would be quieter. However, the dining room is not large so I’m pretty sure that didn’t help them a whole lot. I realize The Reeds often has wedding receptions and other events, but knowing it is in a room adjacent to their restaurant, which should provide an elevated experience, they should have some soundproofing or rules in place to ensure diners are not disturbed to this extent. It felt like I had gone to a club or concert. We have always had a nice time at Sax on other occasions, but we won’t be going back anytime soon.
