Another terrific experience at Silver, whose location is so near Bethesda Row Cinema that it makes for a great evening out to eat at Silver before or after a movie, as well as being its own stand-alone destination. This Oscars weekend, as the weather turned colder again, several dishes were perfect in taste, comfort-food quotient and portion size. To begin, the flavorful and new street corn with won tons dish, as well as the classic crusty bread with ricotta, were satisfying starters. Anytime it is hard to beat Silver's well-seasoned bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes, long a signature dish. To finish with a dessert that was not too sweet, the lemon tartlet with fresh blackberries was a perfect ending, with just-right proportions of lemon filling to the freshly baked and flaky crust. The staff at Silver is exceptional; even on a super-busy Friday evening they work together, working hard, to provide an excellent customer experience and a well-paced, well-prepared meal. Gabby, the hostess, is the perfect blend of professionalism and friendliness, and also notes any special requests listed. She will also check in during the evening to be sure all goes well. Mark, the server, is an efficiency whiz, promptly taking your orders, and putting them in at reasonable intervals for various courses, so that there is a satisfying flow to the arrival of dishes, not the arrival of your entree as you are still eating your starter. This is a skill that marks a superior server, imho, and a noteworthy one on a busy weekend night; well done. As for skill, the kitchen staff's care, talent, respect for ingredients and creativity speaks for itself - the proof is in the pudding (and the other courses). Assisting Mark was pleasant Neidy, who lent a hand to bring out dessert and fill a water glass without need to ask, all with a smile. Looking around the dining room, burgers, seafood, sides and cocktails on other tables also looked great and folks looked happy. You'll be, too.

Long a fan of Chef Ype and Silver Diner in Rockville (B, L & D), one decided to head down to Silver in Bethesda during Savor Bethesda event, and was not disappointed. The three-course dinner was well-paced, extremely well-priced and delicious. To start, the crispy fingerling potatoes sat on a very zesty, tasty sauce with several layers of flavor and some kick to it. (With an adult beverage a person could actually make a light supper just of this.) As the entree the delicious and amply-sized maple glazed faroe islands salmon was properly cooked, tender inside with a just-right crust, and sitting on a bed of Yukon gold mashed potatoes, with winter vegetables to add texture and flavor. For dessert, the pistachio mousse and brownie - (garnished with raspberries and sugar-glazed pistachios) - hit all the right notes of creamy, richness, savory and also brightness from the several berries. Edward's service was attentive but never intrusive, and requests (cream for hot tea, etc.) along the way were pleasantly and promptly satisfied. Of note here is the cooperative spirit and team-approach to customer service: When a fellow not one's waiter was passing with the water pitcher, he paused to ask if he could top off one's water glass. There was no wait to be seated either(had a reservation) and one's request for a quiet area's booth was also honored. This pleasant experience will no doubt overcome any earlier reluctance to drive into Bethesda due to parking concerns, too, since the Crescent Trail public parking garage is adjacent. So a 5/5 rating as the food, staff, service, ambiance, price and convenient parking were all on point. "Treat yourself, or you'll cheat yourself" sums up Silver in Bethesda.

Silver had wonderful choices for Savor Bethesda week. The corn appetizer, chicken piccata, and pistachio mousse were so delicious and spiced so well. These dishes were very creative and special!
