We have been coming here for a few years. Cozy authentic ambience, v relaxed. Food is tasty & delicate & not your usual chicken tikka masala grub. South Indian influence, the owner is from Kerela. BYO keeps cost down for an evening which feels refreshingly good value. Try something different though if you want flash & bling this is not your place.

Simply Indian is a boutique establishment serving delicious twists on old favourites and exciting new dishes. On arrival a generous basket of popadoms with chutneys is served up to enjoy while you wait for your order to be cooked not reheated. The chef cooks each dish with love, unhurried but the food flows out of the kitchen at a steady pace and the constant flow of takeaways shows that this is a place much respected by locals. Service is unintrusively friendly and the overall ambience of the place is peaceful, just the sound of cooking and the moderate murmurs of other diners. We had the chicken jalfrezi and the goat karai both well balanced with spice and served with daal and a nan assortment. The meat was so tender, especially the goat, best I've had in a very long time. Prices are excellent, great value for money and the BYOB set up allows you to bring your own wine with no corkage fee. If you enjoy good Indian food and are bored with all the usual sauces served up with different meat choices and indifferent samosas, this is the place for you. Simply Indian is the best of Indian home cooking with the added flair of an expert chef who knows good food and loves his culture. We will absolutely be back.

Had booked a table for 6pm and arriving early, the only gentleman there let us sit and brought us some poppadoms. He later took our order but there was no sign of any cooking going on. Around 6:30 another gentleman arrived and there were loud angry voices from the kitchen. Trying to be kind I asked him if he would like us to order something different that would be easier. He took it very badly and gave me a lecture. At 7 the food arrived and it really was delicious:) We were the only people in the restaurant. When asking for the bill, the second man had gone out on a delivery and we were asked to wait. After a very long 15 minutes, we left money on the table and left. It was apparent that they were not aware of the open table booking. It was an interesting experience both for me, and my two Californian visitors. Would recommend the venue for takeaway food.

This is a secret find. Small cosy and personal. Only issue was that the only person working was the waiter and cook and everything in between but he managed admirably. It will be a lot busier after the students return to the area I'm sure. Food was good, plentiful and authentic.

Very tasty samosas, good dosa and tasty mains. Definitely a South Indian twist on some "standard dishes" which were pleasant, but dont expect your standard jalfrezi. BYO. Good value

An absolute gem. What a find! Exquisite food. Nothing like your average Indian restaurant in the UK. This is proper cuisine. Not the oily, salty bland spicy rubbish youynormally get. Can't wait to return
