   Wonderful eatery for both casual and formal dining. Food is always amazing, staff is friendly, service first class and they have a great wine list. Thank you for another great evening!

   Southside Bistro is our favorite restaurant in Anchorage. The food is always excellent. They have creative daily specials, while their regular menu has some of our favorite dishes. Service is always outstanding.

   First time visit. We were late for our reservation by 10 mins, we were still seated quickly. We had a reasonably priced bottle of outstanding Rioja. We had oysters the oysters, fresh, perfectly briney and the horseradish ice is just perfect. Scallops were cooked to perfection, Salads were dressed perfectly, crisp, fresh. Entrees were duck cooked perfectly and veal, also perfect. All the sauces in all dishes was luxurious. side veggies were bright and crisp. The au gratin potato is good enough to be served on its own, thin slices, buttery, cheese was a brie? so good. Deserts were outstanding, the chocolate turine was the smoothest thing you will ever eat, light, creamy, not over the top sweet and not bitter or dark chocolate and the cream served along was dreamy. The Napoleon was crisp, not overly sweet and the bananas were perfectly ripe to add the right amount of flavor and sweetness and the caramel creme is so luscious you just want a bowl of it. Our server Autumn was a delight, very knowledgeable and had great suggestions to help narrow down a choices. We were delighted when owner Jens came to our table, wished us a happy Anniversary and chatted a bit even though it was well past closing and we were the last ones. Everyone we interacted with seemed genuinely happy to be there and made us feel welcomed.

   We've been dining at Southside Bistro since it opened many years ago. We have never been disappointed. The owner/chef Jens is a master of culinary design, coming up with new recipes that are delightful. The ambiance is very nice, with a cozy fireplace going in the winter, an extensive wine bar, and an outstanding service staff, most of whom have been there for years, which speaks to the quality of the restaurant and the management. If you're looking for a bar, however, this is not the place. They do not serve "hard" alcohol (cocktails, etc.), only wine and beer. We appreciate that very much, as the patrons come for the wonderful food and atmosphere.

   Crowded but excellent food and reasonable service for the short staff. Seeing the owner bussing tables shows the signs of a place that cares.

    As a “regular” the food and service are always top notch. It’s so nice to have a place like this is south Anchorage. Food is always well balanced, fresh and beautifully plated. The servers are always attentive and knowledgeable. Anytime I go there, I never have to worry if it’s going to be good—because it always is. :)
