ST. JOHN Bread & Wine reflects the rhythms of its locale whilst observing the same respect for seasonal, indigenous ingredients and "the whole beast" as the bigger sister restaurant. Currently opening for dinner, Tuesday to Saturday, this branch very much beats its own drum with a menu structured towards a slightly less formal manner of dining, with guests actively encouraged to share dishes as they're ready from the kitchen.

As well as selling goods to take home from our bakery, wines by the bottle or the case can be bought from our lists to take home with some delivery available.

Bread & Wine has been voted Best British Restaurant by the Evening Standard and named as best value restaurant by The Observer Food Monthly.

Thank you Danielle and team for the warmest welcome on the occasion of our 24th anniversary. The food was exceptional today and our lovely dog Gus particularly enjoyed the attention given to him. Bread and Wine is as close to perfect as a restaurant can be, makes special occasions wonderful and provides cheer and comfort on less happy days. Front of house really match up to the excellence of the food. Bravo xx

This is a classic. Not classically dated. Oh no! This places is anything but that. It is a transformative experience, if you let it be. It is a must go if you’re in London or anywhere near it.

Superb menu with some stalwarts (Welsh Rarebit) and plenty of seasonal options (venison; squash with green sauce). Excellent service. The restaurant never disappoints.

Tolles Konzept, englische Tapas, gerne mit einem wunderbaren Brot als Grundlage. Für Gespräche etwas hoher Geräuschpegel.

Hare was very good. Nice touch Lancashire cheese with the Eccles cake. Struggling to categorise the cheese - it didn’t fit either the “tasty” or “crumbly” variants but maybe my cheese-memory has been corrupted by Swaledale, the queen of war of the roses cheeses. Wine list quite extensive and prices not as off-putting as many restaurants, but almost all French: no Rioja (sigh) nor, from memory, Italian so I struggled here but ended up in Catalonia.

Great service, nice atmosphere, stellar food. The rabbit pie was particularly fantastic and the fresh Madeleines were perfect.
