Sugar Bar is a vibe!! I drove from Baltimore to visit. The hospitality, food, ambiance and bartender Terrell all top notch. Thursdays entertainment is worth the drive. One thing we did have a comment on is the cover charge for the upstairs. You watch the entertainment on a tv. We got paying the cover charge for the main room. My thoughts were the cover charge is for the host possibly. Either way, it is so worth visiting!!! We had an amazing time.

I loved the Sugar Bar. The food was great, the service was great. The only thing is when we first walked in, it kinda smelled molded. Otherwise great place.

We love the food at Sugar Bar, but the service is slow, especially when the restaurant is packed and there's only one waiter/waitress to serve so many people. But what's with charging for bread/toast at Sunday Brunc? That's absurd, but that's what they do--i.e. they charge for bread/"toast". And worse than that, they place a single slice of cornbread on the table (and further slice that puny serving in half) for two diners!!! That's chinsy and appalling. If they charge for bread--there they do--why not just charge for the cornbread, too--so that we can get two slices of cornbread for two diners--a slice per person rather than the restaurant slicing a single serving in half for two dinerssssssssssssss/! Crazy. This was and could be one of my favorite restaurants but the service is so slow, and the place is often too crowded which adds to the wait. There's space in the rear and upstairs but those spaces were closed this past Sunday; hence, we were cramped downstairs, at a table next to a large family gathering (At least the children were well-behaved, and not noisy). The restaurant promoted alcoholic beverages for brunch but we we do not drink alcoholic beverages and ordered OJ and lemonade--for which we were CHARGED. TACKY! We did not see a "manager" type; not that day--orning our "complaint" was lodged with the overworked waitress (who was friendly and conscientious). When the bill arrived we found that they included an automatic tip of 18% which we understood, because too many diners stiff the establisshment for slow or rude service. The service was NOT rude but slow. And the pricing is not the waiter's fault--but management's! Complaints to management are routinely ignored, however. That's bad for business when customers' concerns and reports go ignored. Hmmm. Mickey Michaels

Seemed a bit disorganized and chaotic. I made reservations and bought tix for a show weeks ago, and yet they didn’t seem to have a place for me and my guest. I stood waiting for about 15 min until they finally offered me two places at the bar. I actually don’t mind the bar, but it seemed odd considering that I made reservations far in advance. Also, if you are automatically adding a 20% grat to a party of two, you should let them know.

Always loved their crispy fried chicken! It must have been an off night. Some of the side dishes were cold, service left much to be desired. I'll still go back to give them another chance.

Everything was delicious. The only thing that was wrong was our order. He gave us chicken instead of pork chops. But other than that everything was fine.
