Taxim, which is located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, features regionally-inspired Greek dishes paired with an all-Greek wine list. The stunning dining room is fitted with soaring 16-foot ceilings, travertine marble floors, dramatic Byzantine-style lamps and artwork, and the rooftop dining area lined with Greek flowering herbs.

The restaurant was chosen as one of of Chicago's Best New Restaurants in 2009/2010 by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Reader. Additionally, Taxim's housemade yogurt with young favas and lamb confit was selected as one of the Best Bites of 2009 by the Chicago Reader, the house-cured sardines were mentioned in Time Out Chicago's 2009 "100 Best Things We Ate (and drank) This Year" feature, and the wood-grilled octopus was selected as 2010's "Best New Dish" by Chicago magazine. Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.

Our host offered to seat us in a quieter area but my friend circumvented it, so I shouldn’t complain about the noise, but the main dining room was quite noisy. The service, food, and wine were outstanding. Highly recommend.

Food was amazing & staff was incredible! Came to celebrate a birthday & our server did everything his power to make the birthday special. Will be back.

The food was good. Nothing really “stood out.” The ambiance was nice. The mandatory 22% gratuity is kind of corny. But I understand. The waiter was great and well worth the 22%, but I’d prefer to make those decisions myself.

We’ve been here before and the food is always great. Unfortunately the service this time wasn’t stellar which wouldn’t have been a problem…if you weren’t paying the price of stellar service. They have a policy of having a 22% min on any table and 25% on larger groups. That’s why I’d normally leave for tip…if I had great service. Also fun fact they serve fries and don’t have/look down on ketchup. 🤷‍♂️🫠

Outdoor patio really nice. Food was so-so, chicken very good, lamb shank not good at all. Small pour on the wine and expensive by the glass. Excellent service.

The food was good, but service was very slow and not well timed. We dined early Friday evening, and the restaurant was not full when we arrived. After the initial greeting from our server, it was a long time before she returned to take our order. Our bottle of wine arrived after we finished our appetizer.

Such a lively fun rooftop Food was excellent Servers are extremely nice but stretched to the limit so breathe and relax It’s worth the wait. Sea bass is fabulous as was the okra and the eggplant appetizers. Good wine offerings by the bottle too Time flew. Our server Jacob was terrific
