The Black Horse in the village of Fulmer is nestled between Gerrards Cross and Pinewood Studios. The 17th Century craftsman’s cottage has gradually been extended to form a charming country pub full of nooks and crannies. Under new ownership, The Black Horse has recently undergone extensive refurbishment both inside and out, creating one of the nicest pub environments in the area.

Food is our passion and we will never compromise on quality. We are proud of our seasonally changing menus, simple, yet exciting using the finest ingredients and locally sourced produce. Certain dishes have become specialities such as our sticky ribs and homemade 8oz burgers. Our beef has been aged for a minimum of 35 days and the roast beef served on Sundays is unrivalled. Crispy beer battered fish and specials such as sea bass, turbot and whole lobster, is caught in the morning and delivered fresh to us on the same day.

We had Sunday lunch which was delicious and a good sized plateful. We brought our dog who was made to feel very welcome. The staff were lovely. My only criticism is that the service was a bit slow and inattentive, mainly because the poor girls were rushed off their feet. The management need to put more staff on. We ate in the bar, which was full, as was the main restaurant and garden. However, we will be going back.

This place used to be lovely - surprised to find it empty on a Saturday night - now we know why! Food rubbish - I would give zero marks- burnt dry burgers and other food looked as if heated out of pack. Service staff really rude acted like they were doing us a favour to talk to us. They should teach the bar staff/ waiting staff to smile and learn customer service. Will not be coming back and if you want a nice meal don’t bother either!

Great food and service was really helpful and friendly. Enjoy the atmosphere here and appreciate that I can bring my well behaved dog to the bar area.

We visit the Black Horse about once a year as it is a great midway point between us in London and friends from the midlands. The food and service never disappoint. I had the buffalo chicken wings to start which were a great sized portion and lovely and spicy. Between us we had a range of burgers and a couple of kids meals, all were delicious. We look forward as always to our next visit.

Excellent Sunday roast in a cosy pub. We sat at the bar side, which has a good ambience and enjoyed a selection of starters and a delicious roast beef topped off by a yummy apple, fig and plum crumble. Just what was needed at the end of a chilly day

Very poor service - our waitress didn’t seem to know if she was coming or going. Some of the food came out cold. Won’t be going back.

Beautiful pub and very professional and friendly waitress. Great food, pricing is fair. Highly recommended.
