   As always, a lovely dining experience with well thought out menu ideas. A great collection of mini dishes to sample a variety of flavours, with the main Sunday lunch dish being very filling and great value for fine dining.

   Dined here 2 years ago and it was fabulous. Beautiful meal. Unfortunately they now have a new chef with Australian and Asian influences which I’m not sure suits the traditionalist ambience of the restaurant. It’s not to my taste I’m afraid so won’t be going again. Service was outstanding as usual.

   We’d been to the Box Tree a few times before, whilst it was under the prior management, we used to call it ‘The Secret Restaurant’ as everyone whispered and was overly formal. Having heard the hype since Braydon took over, and as we were big fans of the Raby Hunt, we thought we’d give it another go. We were absolutely wowed! Whilst the restaurant definitely needs a bit of a facelift, the food was exceptional, the service was informal yet attentive and the wine flight was the best we’ve ever had (someone really needs to give the sommelier an award or a pay rise at the very least). Our favourite dishes were the langoustine (surprisingly rich and accompanied by the most perfect wine that took us straight to the heart of Valencia - a true Ratatouille moment), and the Brillat-Savarin encased in rhubarb gel dessert. Just sublime! There was a lovely, convivial atmosphere - a definite departure from the days of ‘The Secret Restaurant’. We look forward to seeing The Box Tree evolve further, investment in the interior would bring synergy with the modern menu. It would be a real shame if the exceptional efforts of Braydon and the team were hampered because people didn’t want to dine in Grandma’s living room. We will be back!

    Booked in for the Valentines special menu and it did not disappoint. A favourite of ours, but it felt fresh and the service was brilliant
