   Disappointing - time limited to 90 minutes which we weren’t informed of until we were sat down. We were rushed throughout the meal by the waiting staff and therefore didn’t have time for dessert. Drinks were forgotten so after reminding the staff, the main course had finished by the time the drinks turned up, served without an apology. Front of house manager actually lied to us when we initially asked to move to an alternative table, telling us that the two separate tables for two were to be combined into a four, which transpired not to have been the case. I’d visited the restaurant two years ago when it really was fantastic, but now is the other end of the spectrum. Food was OK, but nothing particularly noteworthy. Clearly the Bib Gourmand rating has gone to their head. Best avoided; find a proper restaurant in Bath if you’d like some quality.

   Excellent food and very nice ambiance. Great great full Brill and coliflower, great gnocchis but too spicy.

   Great food, but the experience was let down by the service from our waiter who seemed to want to be somewhere else and who we had to remind what we had ordered.

   We wanted a classic English Sunday roast, and Chequers fulfilled our wishes. A very full plate that included duck-fat roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, greens and lamb (or pork belly or beef). They also offer a vegetarian option. The restaurant was full of local residents out for a Sunday afternoon meal with their families.

   The food and service were excellent but my husband was disappointed that there were no draft real ales available. They gave me a birthday card which was a nice touch. I can recommend the fresh fish, I had John dory and my brother in law had mackeral, both of which were delicious and perfectly cooked.
