Welcome to The Dorset Arms, one of Sussex's best kept secrets..

The Dorset Arms Public House in Withyham is an 18th century alehouse situated in the outstandingly beautiful Sussex Weald. Part of the historic Buckhurst Estate, the pub is named after the Earls and Dukes of Dorset, one time heads of the Sackville family, and shares a heritage of family ownership now headed by their descendant, the present Earl De La Warr.

Showcasing the best of what Sussex has to offer, our Head Chef has fine-tuned the classics and combined them with modern British dishes to provide a diverse and exciting menu.

We have our Garden Room that seats 3 stunning private drinks/dining lodges themed around Apres Ski in our garden that are available for hire. They are the perfect venue for any celebration you are planning. Two of our 3 lodges seat 10 guests and the third can accommodate 24 seated and 30 standing guests.

Very nice quiet pub, great service with excellent food . A bit pricey though.

We had a very nice meal and good service, however we all felt very cold and asked for a nearby electric radiator to be turned on, which was done immediately without any fuss.

We have been to the Dorset Arms many times over the past few years and the standard has been consistently good. Lovely warm friendly atmosphere, nice staff and good food. Always a pleasurable experience. We would have no hesitation recommending it to others. Thank you for a great Sunday lunch!

We enjoyed our meal very much, the staff were nice but there were staff shortages in the kitchen which resulted in slow service. When we gently mentioned this they insisted on deducting the cost of our main meals from the bill. We did not want this but they were insistent. We would definitely return and recommend to our friends.

Went on a Monday for lunch. There was a very long wait for our main course, and we think the food didn't represent good value for money compared to the other two pubs we tried in the area. The 'pheasant crumble' dish was too unusual and tasted average at best. Would have preferred a simple piece of roasted meat. The terrine starter was yummy.

Yet again another fantastic meal, been a few times now, so friendly great staff that all work so hard at keeping everything going smoothly

Lovely pub. Food was good, especially the desserts. Pheasant a little over cooked. Staff generally very pleasant though the Younger ones are just ‘going through the motions’, no real engagement with customers and could be more attentive.
