                          Our host refused to seat us at a booth citing "upcoming reservations" and didn't walk us to our seat instead pointing us to where we should go. It felt impersonal. We were there for less than an hour and no large party reservations came in so we felt that it was a missed opportunity for us to sit where we had asked to. Our server was inattentive and refused to try and accommodate our drink request. We felt like an afterthought and she barely checked on how we were doing. Overall the food was very good but the service was completely unsatisfactory and we likely won't be back here again.

                          We usually have a positive experience dining at the Knick but something was off yesterday. Maybe it was the hour we lost from Daylight Savings ending or what but our server was in a fog. He forgot about our drink order and he had to ask four times what we had ordered when we reminded him. Poor guy was on the struggle bus.

                          We went for brunch with my aunt who is hard of hearing and the noise level was a little tough. Food and service were both good. Our table location wasn't very good--kind of stuck in the back with no view of anything. All in all, a fine experience. Nothing bad but nothing great either.

                          The food is always great, and last night was no exception. The service is usually always really good as well, but last night was, unfortunately, an exception. Our server was quite pleasant, just not attentive. We waited longer than reasonable for a second glass of water, and for the check, though the food was out with its usual speed. He was also happy to rectify an error on our drink order, which he had apparently entered incorrectly. To be clear, this place is wonderful, one of our favorites, and this will in no way affect our willingness to return. I feel bad for even having to write this, but someone should be aware. It wasn’t a bad experience by any stretch, just “off”, even considering that it was quite busy. In any event, we will return, as should everyone, and we’d be happy to have the same server take care of us again. This place is a Milwaukee institution, and a gem. Please, heed the warning of Elsa’s grave mistake and their foolish changes, and please don’t change.

                          Only downside of our experience was being seating right next to the reception desk which was in direct line to opening the door and getting a cold draft. If you going during the winter you want to be sure sit away from the door.

                          Great food. Great waiter… they were out of the bottle of wine we wanted, he suggested another that was really good and half the price.
