   We visited the Rams Head on Sunday the 9th February. This was a birthday celebration with my elderly parents. We chose the Rams head as we had been for a meal in Decemner and were very impressed with the pub and the food. However, on this occasion, on arrival we were surprised to see a large amount of cars on the road and also in the pub car park. When we entered the pub, we were shocked to find at least a dozen pairs of dirty smelly running shoes at the inside the entrance. When we entered the pub, the bar area was packed with runners.We were then informed there had been an organised fell run that morning and they were at the pub post run for food and drinks. While I understand this was an organised event, I feel we should have been informed on booking a table for a celebratory lunch that this event was taking place. The bar area was so full of people and noisy. This did not allow for a nice relaxed Sunday lunch we planned. Can I suggest that in future when events like this are arranged, that people are informed when booking a table. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to the Ram's head which is a shame because the food and drink are both exceptional.

   We are a country inn, we welcome walkers, runners, hikers, bikers, dogs and lovely drinkers and food lovers. Yes you booked a table in the restaurant, you were seated to this table immediately. The service provided was no different to any other day, as you said your food and drink were exceptional. Two main rooms were kept free for booked diners, this is where you were seated, you was not near the runners or any dirty shoes. We are a extremely busy and popular country inn and restaurant so to just presume you are coming to a empty pub/restaurant in the middle of nowhere is your fault not ours. Please remember you booked 1 table not the whole restaurant and bar. And yes i think your quite right not to return, especially if you want a empty restaurant and bar, that will never be us!

   Lovely country pub, only had sandwiches but they were delicious and the chips very good, we called in on our way to Manchester and now wish it was closer

   Accommodated large dog no problem. Good menu choices and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly and service was good. Would definitely recommend as a dog friendly venue.

   Lovely meal as always , service and attention to detail spot on. Always feel very cosy when in there, decor is lovely, log fire was lovely, meal choice excellent, locally bought produce. Value for money, I actually couldn't eat all my meal as I was full. Would recommend a visit to anyone. Thank you
