We came for Sunday lunch and we all decided to have the beef. It came and was presented beautifully, it tasted amazing and the beef was very very good, not very fatty or anything and the veggies were so tasty and perfectly cooked. Absolutely worth every penny. Staff were very attentive and friendly and we were seated early as the weather was bad, we were early for our booking. Overall a beautiful eating place with lovely staff and yummy yummy food.

First time of trying having been to Star Inn at Harome previously which has always been excellent. Unfortunately the food was quite average in flavours . Chateaubriand was way undercooked and had to be sent back . Sea bream was very bland . Bubble and squeak to go with beef cheek was so dry . Probably wouldn’t rush back .

First time we have dined here and the four of us thought the food was amazing. Portion size just right, but nobody had room for a desert. The restaurant was busy, but it was lunchtime and York was very busy due to the sun shining. Jade looked after us extremely well and is a credit to the restaurant. We will return at some point in the future

I and my wife utterly enjoyed dining ath the The Star Inn. I had a Venison Terine as a starter and Chargrilled Sirloin steak with Blue cheese sause and fries. Dessert was Mascarpone cream with White choclate and Orange Ice cream. I give 4 stars because it was very nice and enjoyable, I could give 5 stars but this I have to reserve for occasions when I eat something I've never had before in terms of creativity and quality. But well done, we'll certainly go back again.

My partner and I went for a belated Valentine's Day treat. The restauarant is a really pleasant venue to dine and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had the slow braised Ox cheek, which was delicious. My only slight quibble is that I could have done with a bit more of the hispi cabbage. I opted for the suggested rioja to accompy my meal - it was a very nice example and paired well with the food. My partner has a very small appetite and opted for the scallops starter as her main course. She was very pleased with the dish, saying tha scallops were perfectly cooked. She also chose the recommended wine, a gewurtztraminer, which she enjoyed. My cheesecake desert was very tatsy and we rounded off the meal with an espresso a piece - well extracted and very pleasing. Our waitress was delightful and looked after us extemely well, including giving my partner useful guidence about the gewirtztraminer.

Food and service is always excellent but our waitress managed to bring my favourite pud that was no longer on the menu. Big thank you to the waitress and the kitchen staff.

Despite the restaurant being full to capacity the staff were attentive without being intrusive and just added to the occasion. Really lovely meal and atmosphere.
